TASMANIAN CANINE ASSOCIATION Katelyn Innes “Youve Got This” VIRTUAL BENEFIT SHOW 2021 On the 8th of May 2021 Katelyn’s world changed. Just 25 years old and 23 weeks pregnant with her second child Katelyn collapsed at a dog show suffering a life- threatening subarachnoid haemorrhage. Young, strong, healthy and vibrant, Katelyn was brought up in the dog world. Her mother Yanina and Grandmother Fran along with Katelyn breed British Bulldogs under the “Paseya” prefix, also having over a 20 year love interest in their other heart breed the Dalmatian, Katelyn and Yanina started their own kennel and now breed them in partnership under the “Ourdals” prefix. Progressing through the Junior Handlers ranks and representing the State on several occasions, Katelyn is very well known in the show scene, not only for handling her own dogs to many Best in Shows but campaigning others as well. Not one to say “NO”, she goes out of her way to help others whether it be handling, holding, or even saving that illustrious “Top Knot!” Katelyn ‘s involvement in Juniors has led her to be on the Junior Handlers Committee which she has served on for several years, she is also Secretary of an All Breeds Club and a committee member of her Breed club in Tasmania. Understandably, this medical condition has had a devastating impact on Katelyn’s life and her nearest and dearest, she was in ICU in a coma for nearly 3 weeks before being transferred to a ward where she has started a rehabilitation program. Katelyn’s condition has affected her movement and co-ordination (significantly more on her left side) and she is working hard on her motor development, in both gross and fine motor skills.

TABLE OF CONTENTS The International Symposium on Singing and Song 2 Welcome Messages 3 Acknowledgements 6 Invited Keynote Presenters – Abstracts & Biographies 8 Symposium Presenter Abstracts 32 Symposium Presenter Biographies 45 Cameo Performers 47 Campus & City Information 52 Notes 56 Ode to Newfoundland 57 Symposium Schedule - 3 - International Symposium on Singing and Song WELCOME MESSAGE Welcome to the inaugural International Symposium on Singing and Song! This event is hosted by our newly formed organization, The Singing Network. We envision The Singing Network as a catalyst for creating and building a Memorial University-provincial-national-international network of individuals and organizations interested in singing and song: scholars, performing artists, educators, students, health care professionals, as well as professional and community-based musicians organizations and associations. With support from the Memorial University’s Bruneau Centre for Excellence in Choral Music, The Network has begun creating and producing a series of voice-singing-choral events ranging from workshops, seminars, performances, dialogues, the formation of new ensembles (e.g., intergenerational choir) and this biennial International Symposium on Singing and Song. Each of the organization’s projects involves collaboration and partnerships with local, national and international colleagues. Our goal is to mobilize knowledge, expertise and resources in support of singing in musical, cultural, social, health-based and educational contexts. We are delighted with the response to our Call for Presentations for the Symposium which generated over 100 proposals from 16 countries. Today we welcome approximately 80 presenters representing 11 countries. We welcome also five amazing re-recitals, lecture demonstrations, panelkeynote presentations, presenters: Ēriksroundtable Ešenvalds discussions, (Latvia), poster Karmina session Šilec and(Slovenia), cameo performances.Karen Brunssen We (USA), are delighted Julia Davids also (USA/Canada), to welcome and graduatePatrick Freer students (USA).
