As a result of the field and laboratory studies, 148 fungal species were identified. With the addition of formerly recorded 14 species in the study area, a total of 162 species belonging to 87 genera, 49 families, and 17 orders were listed. Key words: Ascomycota, Basidiomycota, Ankara, Turkey. Özet: Bu çalışma, Ankara Üniversitesi Tandoğan Kampüsü'nden (Ankara) 2017 ve 2019 yılları arasında toplanan mantar ve enfekte olmuş konukçu bitki örneklerine dayanmaktadır. Studies in Fungi 3(1), 202–226, Doi 10.5943/sif/3/1/21 Abstract A literature-based checklist of polypores reported from Kerala State, India is deduced. Altogether 148 species of polypores under 8 families belonging to 68 genera are recorded. The checklist is prepared after reviewing all the available literature and most of them have been published during the last two decades. The geographical distribution of polypores is presented districts wise, including all the 14 districts of Kerala state. The family Polyporaceae has the highest number of species (80), followed by Hymenochaetaceae (37), Fomitopsidaceae (9), Meripilaceae (7), Ganodermataceae (7), Meruliaceae (5), Schizoporaceae (2) and Phanerochaetaceae with a single species. The genus Trametes had the highest representation with 16 species followed by Lentinus and Phellinus with 13 species each. There is no comprehensive studies have been undertaken on the diversity, distribution and functional attributes of polypore fungi in Kerala parts of Western Ghats, which undoubtedly hosting the highest mycodiversity This list is inconclusive and covers only a part of the actual diversity of polypores in Kerala as most of the forest areas are unexplored for the polypore diversity documentation.

They are rich in dietary fiber, essential amino acids, minerals, and many bioactive compounds, especially those related to human immune system functions. Mushrooms contain diverse immunoregulatory compounds such as terpenes and terpenoids, lectins, fungal immunomodulatory proteins (FIPs) and polysaccharides. The distributions of these compounds differ among mushroom species and their potent immune modulation activities vary depending on their core structures and fraction composition chemical modifications. Here we review the current status of clinical studies on immunomodulatory activities of mushrooms and mushroom products. The potential mechanisms for their activities both in vitro and in vivo were summarized. We describe the approaches that have been used in the development and application of bioactive compounds extracted from mushrooms. These developments have led to the commercialization of a large number of mushroom products.

    An Inventory of Fungal Diversity in Ohio Research Thesis Presented in partial fulfillment of the requirements for graduation with research distinction in the undergraduate colleges of The Ohio State University by Django Grootmyers The Ohio State University April 2021 1 ABSTRACT Fungi are a large and diverse group of eukaryotic organisms that play important roles in nutrient cycling in ecosystems worldwide. Fungi are poorly documented compared to plants in Ohio despite 197 years of collecting activity, and an attempt to compile all the species of fungi known from Ohio has not been completed since 1894. This paper compiles the species of fungi currently known from Ohio based on vouchered fungal collections available in digitized form at the Mycology Collections Portal (MyCoPortal) and other online collections databases and new collections by the author. All groups of fungi are treated, including lichens and microfungi. 69,795 total records of Ohio fungi were processed, resulting in a list of 4,865 total species-level taxa. 250 of these taxa are newly reported from Ohio in this work. 229 of the taxa known from Ohio are species that were originally described from Ohio. A number of potentially novel fungal species were discovered over the course of this study and will be described in future publications. The insights gained from this work will be useful in facilitating future research on Ohio fungi, developing more comprehensive and modern guides to Ohio fungi, and beginning to investigate the possibility of fungal conservation in Ohio. For this purpose, the edible mushroom Cerioporus squamosus was investigated in this study to evaluate the in vitro skin-related bioactivities of its hydromethanolic extract in terms of enhancing wound healing, and human skin cancer suppression capabilities. Treatment of fibroblast cells (BJ-1) with the hydromethanolic extract of this mushroom at 50 µg/mL enhanced cell migration rates by 71.7% after 24 h of exposure to the extract.

Wood decay fungi are among the most important biotic factors in ecosystems, infecting valuable landscaping trees causing an economic loss or the preeminent recyclers of the wood. In a survey of forest trees in the Alamdardeh forest, northern Iran, fungal fruit bodies were collected and isolations made. Based on a combination of macro-morphological characte- ristics and molecular analyses, using the sequence data of ITS-rDNA, isolates were identified to the species level. A total of 22 species in nine families and 15 genera were identified. Most isolates were the white-rot fungi. Additionally, the brown-rot fungus Laetiporus sulphureus and the soft-rot species Xylaria longipes were identified.     The Atrium Outing Report August 31, 2019 By Val Walker The Niagara Escarpment extends across the southern portion of the Upper Peninsula from DeTour in the east to Manistique in the west. It once marked the shoreline of an ancient sea centered in Michigan 450 million years ago. This magnesium-rich, dolomitic lime- stone ridge serves as a diverse natural land- scape, home to an outstanding assortment of flora including many unique calciphiles (calcium loving plant). The Escarpment Our troop of eleven began our trek on the North Country Trail east of East Lake, follow- ing along the base of the Niagara Escarpment. The precipitous wall of limestone, draped in ferns and mosses, made a dramatic backdrop as we passed through the dappled light of a mature maple forest. As in previous years, the lushness and size of the plants beneath the Festooned with ferns canopy was truly spectacular. With the exception of the occasional splash of pink from Herb-Robert, orange from Spotted jewelweed and white from Dead-nettle and Canada violet, flowers were sparse given the time of year. Fruits however, were large and plentiful. Notable were the berries of False Solomon’s seal, American spikenard, Red-berried elder, Canada mayflower, White baneberry, Red Red baneberry American spikenard baneberry and Jack-in-the-pulpit. Seeds of Sweet cicely, Heath speedwell, Broad-leaved helleborine, Wild lettuce and Wild leeks had all set for dispersal. The usual assortment of ferns including the delicate Maidenhair, Ostrich, Lady, Spinulose Wood, Long Beech and Sensitive, lined the trail. Bulblet fern and a diversity of mosses graced the cliff face.
