The strategy – Vision Europe – was approved at the UEFA Congress in Tallinn earlier this year, and defines how UEFA plans to shape the direction and development of European football over the next decade. One of the key points that transpired was that, in the past, UEFA, like many sports governing bodies, tended to react to events rather than shape them. As we strive for a better future, we made a conscious decision to deal with the root causes of the problems in European football – rather than to keep reacting to the symptoms, when it is often too late. If you trace those symptoms to their cause, you invariably arrive at the question of governance – governance at all parts of the football pyramid, from the UEFA level, to our members the national associations, down through the leagues, the regional (county) associations and the individual clubs themselves. Rather than always reacting, camped outside our own penalty area as it were, it should be football’s needs setting the agenda – not state regulators, broadcasters, sponsors, lenders, or other stakeholders from outside the football family, no matter how important and necessary they may be. UEFA has therefore aimed to grasp the regulatory nettle by introducing new initiatives such as, for example, the UEFA Club Licensing System and the new sports rules to encourage local trained (homegrown) players. The Club Licensing System has now been revised and made tougher, especially in the financial area, based on its first year of operation and we are already beginning to see the benefits across Europe. The local trained player sports rules will come into force from next season, and we hope that they will help to start clawing the agenda back towards football by encouraging professional clubs to focus more on training and on giving their young players – regardless of nationality – a chance. And, depending on the permanent consultations that we maintain with the different football stakeholders, there will be more measures to come. Because of this direct interest that we have in governance issues, we are monitoring with great interest the various developments in England and the UK, such as the Burns’ Report and the incredible growth of the Supporters’ Trust and wider organised fans’ movement.

    Good evening and a very warm welcome to the players, officials and supporters of Rushall Olympic, we do hope you enjoy your short stay with us before having a safe journey home. Rushall have made a solid start to this season’s campaign suffering only one defeat in their first 7 league games. A competitive club that are always in and around the playoffs, they will be looking to continue that form. Managed by former Barwell players, Liam Macdonald and Nick Green, they will have done their homework on us, so as ever we will be expecting a tough encounter. A well run club from top to bottom and in their second year with an artificial pitch the club is a good role model for non-league football. Both clubs know that this encounter between us will take place again at Rushall on Saturday in the Buildbase FA Trophy, it’s ironic how these consecutive fixtures seem to happen. We finally got our first win against Nuneaton Borough, which has brought a lot of relief to all connected with the club. I’m sure that will bring a lot of confidence, let’s hope we can kick on from here and get back into the mix on the league front. Last Saturday we played Halstead in the FA Cup, a match which we were obviously expected to win. Sometimes that’s a no-win situation unless you win the game very convincingly. We got off to a bright start and could have been more than 3 goals up at half-time, and although the 2nd half didn’t start how the 1st finished we picked up the pace and shifted the ball Club Officials: very well to end the game very much in control with a real positive feeling amongst the lads. Myself and Darren can’t fault the lads in the way they are progressing and taking on new ideas. This puts us in a really positive position coming into this game. Unfortunately, we lose Matty Richardson, who is moving to America to continue his studies, but we are confident that the squad numbers will soon be back to where they were, so watch this space. Let’s hope come 4.45pm on Saturday we are off the mark as the buzz around the ground is fantastic at the moment and the fans and committee deserve some positivity. All but one constituency is elected using the ‘D’Hondt’ method, a type of proportional representation. Each party puts forward a list of candidates ranked with their preferred candidate at the top and the remaining candidates in descending order. Therefore, electors can only vote for the party and not for individual candidates.

NEWSLETTER : ISSUE NUMBER 1 Altrincham Football Club Newsletter Issue 1 December 2016 NEW BOSS AND BACKROOM STAFF When Altrincham's board concluded the appointment of Jim Harvey hadn't had the effect not only desired but widely expected, given his impressive track record at various levels of the game, and terminated his contract on December 6, it was decided to place his assistant Matt Doughty in interim charge. Matt Doughty Matt is known as Buzz due to a jawline that resembles that of Toy Story character Buzz Lightyear, and he wasted no time sticking his chin out and declaring his pride at being trusted with trying to revive Alty's fortunes. Firmly believing an affinity with the club was a prerequisite for getting the best out of his players, swiftly turned to former Robins captain Robbie Lawton and Alty legend Graham Heathcote - a member of Tony Sanders' all-conquering line-up prior to serving as secretary, coach and manager - to join him on the sidelines. Explaining the thinking behind drafting in two iconic figures from Alty's past, Buzz said: 'I brought Robbie and Graham in because they have an affiliation with the club. When new players come in, they need to be made aware of what it means to play for Altrincham. There's no-one better than Robbie or Graham to do that. We need to instil it in them that we are battlers who are fighting for this club, and if they don't do the same, they don't get to wear the shirt.
