Our walk takes us along Day 3 approx hiking miles: 14.5 Ennerdale Water, the westernmost lake in the Lake District Sept 10, and through several miles of the Ennerdale Forest. steady climb (1500') to a series of large cairns, Nine Standard Riggs, that date to the pre-18th century. We traverse an old mining area dotted with quarries and coal pits. We'll also cross the Pennine Range, the "continental divide" of the area. 8 Keld to Reeth. Depending on weather conditions we'll take Day 8 approx hiking miles: 11 one of two routes to Reeth. If conditions are good we'll pass Sept 15, through the stark environment of a once thriving lead mining 2017 district. 12 Sept 19, By staying two nights in Whitby we actually deviate from Day 12 approx hiking miles: 9 Wainwright's original route. However Whitby is a 2017 picturesque North Sea fishing village boasting a busy Tuesday harbour, an Abbey, and a museum dedicated to its favorite Overnight Accommodations in son, Captain Cook. We will hike from Whitby to Robin's Whitby. Hood Bay, the official end point of the C2C, and dip our boots in the North Sea before returning to Whitby via local bus.

From Wednesday York there are frequent train connections to the departure airport of your choice, London, Manchester, or Edinburgh. Also, York is serviced by a smaller airport, Leeds Airport, from which You may be able to find connections back to the USA.
