Tablicama i grafikonima dodali smo minimalna objašwewa. • Digraphs in Sava Mrkalj's Writing System
Digraphs in Sava Mrkalj’s Writing System Shuko Nishihara Abstract Sava Mrkalj is known for his role in the reformation of the writing sys- tem of the Serbian literary language, as he proposed the new Cyrillic writing system in his work Salo debeloga jera libo azbukoprotres [Fat of the Thick Jer, or Alphabet Reshuffling](henceforth, Fat of the Thick Jer) (1810). Compared to the system established by Vuk Karadžić, Mrkalj’s writing system is imperfect and transitional, because its alphabet system retains four digraphs (дь, ль, нь, and ть) against the phonemic principle of his reform. This article discusses how Mrkalj’s alphabet system main- tains consistency, reflecting his order of priority. Keywords: Serbian language, Cyrillic letters, Sava Mrkalj, language standardization, orthographic reform. 1. Introduction Modern standard Serbian orthography is based on the principle of one sound corresponding to one letter, and although exceptions exist, the language may be “read as it is written,” to use the words of Johann Christoph Adelung.1 Nineteenth-century Serbian linguist, folklorist, and 1 Johann Christoph Adelung (1732–1806), German grammarian and philolo- gist. His main works include Attempt at a Complete Grammatical-Critical Dic- tionary of the High German Dialect (1774–1786) and a German Grammar for - 65 - SHUKO NISHIHARA man of letters Vuk Karadžić2 is known for the modernization of the ver- nacular Serbian alphabet and the completion of the original form of its orthography, but it should be pointed out that Karadžić referred to Sava Mrkalj’s writing system for his linguistic reform. This article will show how Mrkalj’s writing system, put forth in Fat of the Thick Jer (1810), was linked to Karadžić’s orthography.

Prethodna Studija izvodljivosti izgradnje RVS Dubovac-Zrenjanin-Kikinda-Knjiga 2 1.

  • Sustainable Growth Rate: Evidence from Agricultural and Food Enterprises UDC: 330.357:334.43 330.13 DOI: 10.7595/Management.Fon.2015.0017
Management 2015/76 Mirela Momčilović¹, Sanja Vlaović Begović¹, Stevan Tomašević¹, Dajana Ercegovac¹ ¹ Higher School of Professional Business Studies, Novi Sad Sustainable Growth Rate: Evidence from Agricultural and Food Enterprises UDC: 330.357:334.43 330.13 DOI: 10.7595/management.fon.2015.0017 Sustainable growth rate is a maximum growth rate that one enterprise may achieve with a given set of finan- cial policies. The growth of an enterprise per rate higher than sustainable growth rate may lead to financial trou- bles, insolvency, even to the enterprise bankruptcy. In order to be able to finance a rapid growth, the enterprise will have to issue new shares, increase indebtedness, change its dividend policy, increase production effi- ciency or improve the asset turnover ratio. The enterprise growth per rate lower than sustainable may lead to a stagnation of the enterprise. The main goal of this paper is to show a sustainable growth rate calculation methodology and to apply this methodology in the determination of a sustainable growth rate in 2011 and 2012 for 60 enterprises in Serbia belonging to the agricultural and food sectors. Likewise, this paper is concerned with the comparison of the enterprise sustainable growth rate per stated sectors, the determination of existence of possible differences in their height in 2012 in relation to 2011 and with an overview of inflation effect on sustainable growth rate per selected sectors. All this is done in order to assess sustainable growth of agricultural and food sectors in the years under consideration. Research results indicate that possibilities for the sustainable growth were scarce or there was no real sus- tainable growth in agricultural and food sectors in 2011 and 2012.

  • CHURCHES of the RAŠKA SCHOOL – MUNUMENTAL LANDMARKS (A Mathematical-Geographical View on the Direction of Churches of the Raška School)
Collection of Papers – Faculty of Geography at University of Belgrade 60 (205-212) 314.117:631(497.11)"2003/2010" УДК 913:316.334.55(497.11)"2003/2010" Original scientific article CHURCHES OF THE RAŠKA SCHOOL – MUNUMENTAL LANDMARKS (A mathematical-geographical view on the direction of churches of the Raška School) Milutin Tadić*1 *University of Belgrade, Faculty of Geography, Belgrade Abstract: The article presents the results of research on the direction of seventeen of the most notable churches of the Raška School on the territory of the Republic of Serbia, five of which are on UNESCO’s World Heritage List. The azimuths of the main axis of each of these churches was measured and the dates were established when the sun rose in that direc- tion on the physical horizon. With a single exception (the catholicon of Žiča Monastery), the main axes of all the churches lie in the eastern sector of the horizon. In nine churches the deviation of equinox East is ±60, while two of the churches (St. Achilles and the catholicon at Sopoćani Monastery), from a mathematical-geographical viewpoint, are ideally directed. No correlation was found between the direction of the churches and the points of sunrise on the days dedicated to the churches’ patron saints. Key words: church direction, Medieval Serbia, Raška School Date submitted: 30 September 2012; Date accepted: 4 November 2012 Introduction After systematic but hardly intense research performed between 2009 and 2012 and not much after the others (Hoare & Sweet, 2000), the conditions became ripe for an analysis of the direction of the main axes of Serb medieval churches classified according to time periods or architectural styles.

  • Budapest and Thessaloniki As Slavic Cities (1800-1914): Urban Infrastructures, National Organizations and Ethnic Territories
Central and Eastern European Online Library E3 Budapest and Thessaloniki as Slavic Cities (1800-1914): Urban Infrastructures, National Organizations and Ethnic Territories <<Budapestand Thessaloniki as Slavic Cities (1800-1 914): Urban Infrastructures, National Organizations and Ethnic Territories), by Alexander Maxwell Source: Ethnologia Balkanica (Ethnologia Balkanica), issue: 09 12005, pages: 43-64, on www.ceeol.com. ETHNOLOGIA BALKANICA, VOL. 9 (2005) Budapest and Thessaloniki as Slavic Cities (1800-1914): Urban Infrastructures, National Organizations and Ethnic Territories Alexander Mmtwell, Reno (Nevada) The rise of nationalism is an essential element in nineteenth-century urban life, since the social and material conditions that give rise to nationalism first appeared in urban areas. This paper explores national movements arising in a city that (1) was dominated by another ethnic group and (2) lay outside the national ethnoterritory. Specifically, I examine Slavic national movements in Thessaloniki and Budapest1. The emergence of Slavic nationalism in these cities demonstrates that urban institutions were more important to emerging national movements than a demographically national environment. The foreign surroundings, however, seem to have affected the ideology and political strategy of early nationalists, encouraging them to seek reconciliation with other national groups. "Nationalism" had spawned several distinct and competing literatures; any author discussing the subject must describe how he or she uses the term. Follow- ing the comparative work of Miroslav Hroch (1985), I am examining the social basis of movements thatjustified their demands with reference to the "nation". But while Hroch is mainly concerned with the emergence of movements seeking political independence, I examine several Slavic patriots who fought for cultural rights, usually limpistic rights, while simultaneously defending the legitimacy of the existing state.
