Cultivation Event in Washington, DC. In conjunction with WWOZ‘s live coverage of the 2011 DC Jazz Festival, Strategic Development Director Lauren Cangelosi and General Manager David Freedman hosted the station‘s first out-of-state cultivation event in the Washington, DC area, June 8th at the home of attorney Bruce Blaylock. Volunteer Activity. Over 300 off-air volunteers assisted WWOZ throughout the pledge drive, Outreach initiatives, French Quarter Fest, and Jazz Fest. Piano Night went smoothly thanks to the support of 70 off-air volunteers. We are currently in the process of screening 40 new volunteers who were recruited through the WWOZ website, and through an old WWOZ web article that was posted on craigslist by a travel writer. Twenty volunteers who were trained to post playlists have reduced playlist entries to May, June and July! Our youngest volunteer is 16 year old Connor Ringenberg. Connor has done an outstanding job of helping Operations with routine production tasks. Sharon Haley Anderson, who started as an intern at WWOZ in the fall of 2010, has made the decision to remain on board as a volunteer. 10. Marketing.
