Joji Lecturer Department of Political Science D.K.Govt. College for Women (A),Nellore 1.Intorduction The Indian government is being buildup tourism as a tool for social stability, alleviation and sustainable development. The department of tourism in India, which comes under the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, functions as the national tourist organization. As a tourism professional one may have to deal with the department and its officials from time to time. The primary task of the department is to lay down the policy, collect tourism related data, attend to enquirers related to tourism publicize India as a destination, regulate the activities of different segments of the tourism industry, etc. Accordingly, various advisory bodies and committees are formed to implement the policies. In the last five years, the NDA government has launched several key projects as well as continued some old projects of the previous government to boost the travel and tourism industry. Among its best initiatives are Swachh Bharat, electronic visa, digital application, and UDAN among others. The French Governor-General Dupleix wanted to take advantage of this, and assert influence and authority over the Indian kingdoms, so as to make way for a French Empire in India. So, he was looking to interfere in the internal power struggles among Indian chiefs. Even though England and France were officially at peace with each other as there was no fighting in Europe, the political climate in Southern Indian at that time led their companies to fight in the subcontinent. The Nizam of Hyderabad, Asaf Jah I died in 1748 starting a power struggle between his grandson (through his daughter) Muzaffar Jung, and his son Nasir Jung.

Medical Tourism, synonymous with the words like health tourism, medical travel or global healthcare and has become a universal concept gaining importance. The word was first used by travel agencies and is today used by media, government, tourism development corporations etc. The countries which have become the best destination include Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia and India for Healthcare also sometimes referred to as Healthcare Hub. The case discusses the contribution of two of the 25 sectors identified viz. Tourism & Hospitality and Wellness which will be the driver for its growth. The data is collected from the secondary sources and extensive literature review brings out the several factors which will be a thrust to the Medical Tourism. The case takes into account the analysis of future developments in areas of demographic, social and economics which will show the outcome of the case. I. Introduction The Make in India initiative of Prime Minister ShriNarendraModi was launched as a program in September 2014 for comprehensive and expansive nation-building with an objective to make India an attractive destination for manufacturing and transform it into manufacturing-hub. It has claimed to over-haul outdated processes and policies with a claim of „Minimum Government, Maximum Governance.The plan was to increase the confidence of Indian entrepreneurs and citizens and also the global potential partners who can consider India as the preferred destination, provide a framework for a vast amount of technical information on 25 industry sectors: and communicate effectively and regularly to local and global audience through social media about the reforms and opportunities.

India ranks second for medical tourism in the world. It has become a favored destination for people from all over the world for medical care and for various treatments. For almost all treatments, India has cost advantages. Its price is the lowest among any nation in the world. The present paper highlights the current scenario of Medical Tourism industry in India. It also presents the various initiatives taken by Indian government to promote medical tourism in the country. After analyzing the facts, it can be concluded that the biggest challenge is to position India as a favorable healthcare destination by setting high health standards and work in association with the government and the medical council to see to it that all hospitals keep up to those standards.
