Una recente attività di perfezionamento del packaging delle cappe ci ha permesso una diminuzione degli ingombri, un’ottimizzazione dello stoccaggio e della distribuzione. Abbiamo così ridotto i trasporti e le emissioni del 50%”. L’azienda Elica, presieduta da Francesco Casoli e guidata dall’Amministratore Delegato Mauro Sacchetto è attiva nel mercato delle cappe da cucina sin dagli anni ‘70. Con 3.800 dipendenti e una produzione annua di 20,7 milioni di pezzi tra cappe e motori, la Società si avvale di una piattaforma produttiva articolata in sette stabilimenti tra Italia, Polonia, Messico, India e Cina. Le aree principali di Elica Corporation sono: 1. area cooking: progetta, produce e commercializza cappe da cucina a uso domestico, sia a marchio proprio sia attraverso i brand dei principali produttori internazionali di elettrodomestici e cucine (Whirlpool, Electrolux, Ikea, Indesit Company, Bosch-Siemens, Haier, ecc.), piani cottura e, per il mercato asiatico, forni e sterilizzatori; 2. area motori: progetta, produce e commercializza motori elettrici per elettrodomestici, cappe e caldaie da riscaldamento a uso domestico, con il marchio FIME. Quotata alla Borsa di Milano dal 2006 sul Mercato Telematico Azionario - segmento STAR - Elica è oggi leader mondiale in termini di unità vendute nel settore delle cappe a uso domestico. FIME detiene una posizione di leadership in Europa nella progettazione, produzione e commercializzazione di motori elettrici per caldaie da riscaldamento e per elettrodomestici. Sempre attenta anche all’impatto ambientale e alla sostenibilità dei prodotti e della produzione, Elica da qualche anno ha avviato un lavoro di riprogettazione del packaging dei prodotti. Il dipartimento R&D ha lavorato per ridisegnare il design dell’imballo e renderlo meno impattante, riducendo gli sprechi di materiale e ottimizzando lo spazio di ingombro. Riprogettazione e perfezionamento del packaging La riprogettazione degli imballi ha portato a un contenimento del consumo di materie prime impiegate nella realizzazione dell'imballaggio con conseguente riduzione del peso e un’ottimizzazione del confezionamento in pallet. Si è ridotto il peso del packaging del 34% e il volume del 30%. Questo intervento di efficientamento ha portato un’ottimizzazione logistica dell’immagazzinamento, per cui adesso è possibile caricare su un pallet il doppio della merce rispetto a prima: si è passati da 6 cappe a 12 cappe per ciascun pallet. Questo perfezionamento della confezione si ripercuote anche sui passaggi successivi della distribuzione. Prima dell’intervento si caricavano circa 11.660 pallet all’anno, adesso il numero è sceso a 5.830. Con una riduzione significativa anche del numero di camion impiegati della distribuzione ai clienti. Infatti con il nuovo imballo è possibile caricare il 100% in più di prodotti su ciascun camion (da 204 a 408 cappe su ogni tir). I dati numerici indicati sono relativi ad una famiglia di prodotti e non all’intera produzione di Elica. Vantaggi per l’ambiente: riduzione degli sprechi e delle emissioni Questa attività di ricerca e sviluppo di imballaggi più efficienti e sostenibili ha portato a un miglioramento nell’attività di riciclo dei materiali e una diminuzione dell’impatto ambientale. La scelta di imballaggi monomateriali (cartone) con volumi ridotti ha permesso una semplificazione anche delle fasi di recupero e smaltimento del packaging. L’ottimizzazione ha portato una netta diminuzione del numero di camion utilizzati per le consegne, si è passati da 342 camion all’anno a 171, con una riduzione del 50%. Considerando che il percorso medio da fabbrica a cliente è di circa 1000 km, c’è stata una significativa riduzione delle emissioni di anidride carbonica del 50%.
