Dear Parishioners, God’s grace and peace to you all! I am writing to you all because I would like to formally introduce myself to this parish family of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton. Those of you who have been tuning in to our livestream Masses may recognize me as the guy that lectors and serves. Up until recently, I have been living in residence here at the parish while I finished up the academic year via online classes, but now I am happy to say that I will be staying for the summer! I am certainly looking forward to the opportunities and experiences that the Lord has prepared for me while I am here, especially during these tumultuous times we live in. I know Fr. Grady is going to put me to work, and I am thankful that I am under his and Fr. Easton’s wings. Each have been given great gifts by the Holy Spirit, which I personally have witnessed in our conversations we have already had with each other. Please do pray for me that I may be docile to the Holy Spirit’s work in me during my time here. So now I wish to share with you all a little bit about myself. I am originally from Geneva, IL and have lived there for most of my life. I went through Geneva public schools and graduated in 2014. From there, I moved on to Waubonsee Community College until I entered into college seminary the year after. I attended St. Gregory the Great Seminary in Nebraska where I received four years of formation and philosophical studies. From there, I received Candidacy from the bishop last summer and just recently completed my first year of theology studies and formation at Mundelein seminary, which brings me to where I am now. I have only three more years to go until, by God’s gracious will, I am ordained a priest forever. It is crazy to think how fast five years has come and gone, but I would not have traded my years of seminary formation for anything. I came to my decision to enter into seminary formation during my Christmas break while I was at Waubonsee. I was at a discernment event in St. Charles, and near the end of that evening, I received a signal grace where I knew in the moment that I was supposed to tell my vocation director at the time that I wanted to enter seminary. All my doubt, fear, and reservation that I had about making the decision went away at that moment, and I simply knew what I had to do. Prior to that choice, I underwent a re-conversion back to the faith, which, in my mind, inaugurated my interior growth that led to my decision to discern the priestly vocation. A fun thing to know about me is that one of my favorite hobbies is drawing (when I have the time for it). I have been drawing since I was a kid, and I am currently working on a piece which will hopefully be finished before our Lord’s second coming. I like to play any sport that involves me holding some sort of racquet (ping- pong, badminton, tennis etc.) I consider myself a Chicago sports fan, so I love all of my Chicago teams (yes, BOTH the Cubs and the Sox). I also enjoy reading, which is a good habit that five years of seminary helped me develop over time. I know this introduction was a brief one, but it is certainly my hope that I may get to meet all of you in person when we get to a place when public Masses can be celebrated once again. Continue to stay strong, brothers and sisters, and remain in the grace God grants you at every spiritual communion! The day will come when we will worship the Blessed Trinity together as Christ’s mystical body again in the church, and it will be a glorious and joyful day when we hear the Gloria chanted, the Creed proclaimed, and the Holy Eucharist adored and reverently received. May God bless you all during these times, and I look forward to meeting the parish family! 3 IN THE PARISH PARKING LOT Proceeds benefit 1023 MCHENRY AVENUE local charities SATURDAY, MAY 16TH 9 AM - 5 PM SUNDAY, MAY 17TH 8 AM - 1 PM SALE HOSTED BY THE ST.
