Annex

JCube, Singapore – BCA Green Mark Platinum JCube is located at the site of the former Jurong Entertainment Centre (JEC) in the heart of Jurong East, next to the Jurong East Mass Rapid Transit and bus interchanges, offering convenient access for shoppers in the western region of Singapore. The former JEC was demolished in early 2010 and the new mall, JCube, consists of five levels of retail, two basement levels of car park, a rooftop landscaped plaza, IMAX cineplex, and Singapore’s first Olympic-size ice rink.

The mall will be an eco-friendly development fitted with energy-efficient and water-saving features, including the ice rink. A considerable amount of sustainable materials have also been used wherever possible. Softening the building façade are an outdoor terrace on Level 2 and a rooftop landscape garden with a Teflon-covered event space on Level 5, installed with an evaporative cooling system.

The development is currently in its final stage of construction, and is slated for completion in the first quarter of 2012.

CapitaMall Wusheng, Wuhan, China – BCA Green Mark Gold (Provisional) CapitaMall Wusheng is a mixed use development located at Zhong Shan Avenue, Wuhan, comprising a shopping mall by CapitaMalls Asia from Levels 1 to 7 and Somerset-branded serviced residences managed by The Ascott Limited from Levels 8 to 24.

The mall and serviced apartments will use centrifugal chillers and chilled water pumps which are the best in their ranges in terms of efficiency, and will hence reduce electricity consumption. Motion detectors will also be installed for all staircases to help save energy through reduced use of lighting.

Steps have been taken to monitor and set targets to reduce water and energy consumption during the construction phase. In addition, the use of environmental-friendly materials such as certified flooring, tiles and doors, and certified Low VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) paints for all internal walls will help to minimise emission of pollutants.

The development also has an extensive roof garden at the podium area, which will assist in reducing energy consumption. It is also designed with cooling load variations that correspond to thermal comfort, thus improving occupational health and comfort of users

CapitaMall Wusheng is slated for completion in the third quarter of 2012.

Gurney Plaza, Penang, Malaysia – BCA Green Mark Gold Only non ODP (Ozone Depletion Potential) refrigerant R134A are being used in Gurney Plaza. Activated carbon filters, ultra violet bacteria eradication light and silencers have been installed in exhaust systems to minimise air and noise pollution.

Energy audits are conducted every two years to ensure that all the M&E systems are operating efficiently, any anomalies or gaps are analysed, and corrective actions taken to ensure efficiency. Energy-saving measures taken within the malls include converting car park lightings from normal T8 to high performance T8 lightings.

An underground water and rainwater harvesting system is being installed to further reduce the consumption of potable water. This harvested water will be used for the cooling tower make up and flushing of the toilets.

A refuse recycling programme has also been implemented, where paper, plastic, glass and metal are collected and sent to recycling centres. These refuse are then sorted out and weighed to monitor the amount of refuse being recycled. Tenants are encouraged to participate in this recycling programme, and have been educated through series of briefings and circulars.
