Lisiane Sias Manke – Suplente UFPel Belo Horizonte, agosto de 2018 RESUMO Este trabalho teve como objetivo compreender de que modo o programa radiofônico Encontro Com Tia Leninha, da Rádio Nacional da Amazônia, atuou como agente de letramento literário de crianças, especificamente as da região amazônica, no período compreendido entre 1979 e 1999. Para tanto, utilizamos, como fontes, áudios do programa e de radionovelas, scripts de radionovelas, livros de literatura infantojuvenil, entrevistas, cartas e comentários feitos por ouvintes em páginas de redes sociais. Todas essas fontes foram analisadas conforme referenciais teórico-metodológicos que auxiliam no tratamento específico de cada tipo de documento (escrito, sonoro, digital), possíveis graças ao movimento da História Cultural que ampliou e diversificou a noção de documento e fonte histórica. Procedemos à análise de conteúdo das fontes que nos permitiu a categorização e interpretação dos dados coletados de modo a dar, assim, inteligibilidade ao objeto de pesquisa proposto. Estudos sobre letramento e letramento literário, literatura infantil e juvenil, oralidade mediatizada e linguagem radiofônica, história da infância, do livro e da leitura basearam teoricamente a pesquisa. Os resultados obtidos apontam que o programa dedicava espaço significativo à literatura infantojuvenil, seja por meio de discos de histórias, seja por meio de radionovelas de autoria da produtora e locutora Helena Ardito Bortone ou adaptadas de livros infantojuvenis e ainda a leitura de outros livros. Nesse processo de adaptação da literatura infantojuvenil para o rádio, verificamos que a concepção de literatura de Helena Ardito Bortone era, predominantemente, aquela voltada para o ensino e a formação de uma criança e infância idealizadas. Entretanto, mesmo a literatura infantojuvenil assumindo o caráter pedagógico e/ou moralizante, acreditamos que o incremento de aspectos da linguagem radiofônica ampliava a dimensão estética da literatura, conquistando pessoas de diversas idades e localidades, muitas delas sem acesso à leitura literária. Assim, a pesquisa torna visível o importante papel desempenhado pelo rádio na construção da história da leitura no Brasil. Palavras-chave: História do rádio. Letramento literário. ABSTRACT This work aims to understand how the radio program Encontro Com Tia Leninha, of Rádio Nacional da Amazônia, worked as a literary literacy agent for children, especially in the Amazon region, between 1979 and 1999. To do so, we analyzed records of the program and radio soap operas, children and young-adult books, interviews, letters, and comments written by listeners in social networks. These sources were analyzed using theoretical-methodological references on dealing with each specific type of document (written, audio, digital), thanks to the movement of Cultural History that amplified and diversified the notion of document and historic source. The content analysis allowed to categorize and interpret the data collected so as to understand the object of research proposed. The theoretical framework consisted of works on literacy and literary literacy, children and young-adult literature, mediatized orality and radio language, and the histories of childhood, book, and reading. The results show that the program opened a significant space for children and young-adult literature, be it through story records, through radio soap operas written by the producer and announcer Helena Ardito Bortone or adapted from books; or even through the reading of other books. In this process of literature adaptation to the radio, we can see that Helena Ardito Bortone’s concept of literature was, predominantly, one focused on the teaching and formation of an idealized child and childhood. However, even if the children and young-adult literature had a pedagogical and/or moral character, we believe that the extra features of radio language amplified the aesthetic dimension of literature attracting people from different ages and locations many of them with no access to literary reading. Thus, the research unveiled an important role played by the radio on the construction of the history of reading in Brazil. Key words: History of Radio. Literary literacy.     To “make things move, somewhere”: Mobility and the Public Roles of Girls and Women in Popular Girls’ Novels, 1900-1920 by Sabrina Mark A Thesis submitted to the Faculty of Graduate Studies of The University of Manitoba in partial fulfillment of the requirements of the degree of Doctor of Philosophy Department of English, Theatre, Film & Media University of Manitoba Winnipeg Copyright © 2020 by Sabrina Mark i Abstract This dissertation examines a number of popular girls’ novels in relation to their time of publication in the early twentieth century, a time when women of Canada, Britain, and the United States were experiencing increased involvement in the public sphere; these novels are: Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm (1903); A Little Princess (1905); The Secret Garden (1911); the Pearl Watson trilogy (Sowing Seeds in Danny [1908], The Second Chance [1910], and Purple Springs [1921]); Anne of Green Gables (1908); Anne of Avonlea (1909); Pollyanna (1913); and Pollyanna Grows Up (1915). Drawing on theories of female mobility and feminist geographies, I explore the presentation of fictional girls and women in these novels as engaged in public matters. I argue that the novels depict them exploring and pushing the boundaries of what their roles in the public sphere could be while also delimiting the borders within which their involvement is acceptable. In chapter one, I establish physical mobility’s integral role in constituting the model girl, a girl who can embody the qualities that make her a valuable member of the nation. Chapter two explores the girls’ use of physical mobility to spread visions of national identity within local communities.

    Intercom – Sociedade Brasileira de Estudos Interdisciplinares da Comunicação 41º Congresso Brasileiro de Ciências da Comunicação – Joinville - SC – 2 a 8/09/2018 Poéticas da morte em As Aventuras de Poliana (SBT)1 João Paulo HERGESEL2 Universidade Anhembi Morumbi, São Paulo, SP RESUMO As Aventuras de Poliana (SBT, 2018-) é uma telenovela infantojuvenil que apresenta a morte, logo no primeiro episódio, como fenômeno prioritário para o desenvolvimento das ações. Ainda que de modo latente, a representação audiovisual do desencarne dos pais da protagonista parece ter sido atenuada com auxílio de nuances poéticas. Portanto, a fim de verificar como ocorre a comunicação sobre o óbito em um produto de disseminação nacional destinado a crianças e pré-adolescentes, esta pesquisa faz uso das análises narrativa e estilística para se chegar a um resultado cabível. Concluiu-se, neste primeiro momento, que a alegoria e a elipse são os recursos que mais contribuíram para o assunto em questão. PALAVRAS-CHAVE: televisão; ficção seriada; narrativas midiáticas; estilística; SBT. “A MAMÃE FAZ MUITA FALTA” – Uma introdução Precisamos falar sobre poesia na televisão. Não nos referimos, aqui, ao conteúdo com complexidade visual e sonora a ponto de ser considerado obra de arte, mas sim às nuances poéticas que são salpicadas nas narrativas audiovisuais cotidianas. Com base nisso, procuramos entender como os fenômenos da comunicação poética se integram na ficção seriada para crianças e adolescentes – em especial, nas telenovelas infantojuvenis brasileiras. Para tanto, elegemos como recorte As Aventuras de Poliana (SBT, 2018-), sobretudo o primeiro capítulo, quando a morte se manifesta de forma velada e sensível.     Hayley Mills and the Disneyfication of Childhood David Buckingham This essay is part of a larger project, Growing Up Modern: Childhood, Youth and Popular Culture Since 1945. In the early 1960s, Hayley Mills was the most popular child film star in the Western world. While she is best known for her performances in six Disney movies, she also played leading roles in several British-made film dramas of the time. Now in her seventies, she has had a long career in film, television and stage acting, although it is for her work with Disney between 1960 and 1965 that she is best remembered. In this essay, I will focus on a selection of Hayley Mills’s Disney films, and on some of her British films from the same period. As I will show, these films raise several broader questions about the phenomenon of child stardom, and about the representation of childhood – and specifically of girlhood – during this period of rapid social and cultural change. Biography, Part One: The Making of a Child Star Hayley Mills was born in London on April 18th, 1946. Her father was the prominent film actor Sir John Mills and her mother was the writer Mary Hayley Bell: Hayley later appeared in several films alongside her father, and in two written by her mother (Whistle Down the Wind and Sky West and Crooked). She made her screen debut as a baby in her father’s 1947 film So Well Remembered – although some accounts suggest that her parents were not necessarily keen for her to pursue an acting career.

PORTER’S POLLYANNA (1913) Rida Fahas1 Abstract The major problem of this study is the optimistic view of life reflected in Eleanor Porter’s Pollyanna (1913). The aims of this study are to describe Pollyanna portrayal in Eleanor H. Porter’s Pollyanna novel, to explain Pollyanna’s self-concept in novel, and to describe needs and motives underlie Pollyanna’s behavior. This study focuses on the major character, namely Pollyanna. The type of the study is qualitative research. The method of data collection is documentation, while the technique of data analysis is descriptive analysis. The result of this study shows the following conclusion. Firstly, based on the portrayal analysis of Pollyanna, the researcher concludes that Pollyanna as the major character in this novel has flat character. Pollyanna’s character has one side of personality, namely positive. From the beginning of the story until the end of the story, Pollyanna’s personal identity, physical qualities, moral qualities, mental qualities, and social qualities are positive. Secondly, based on humanistic psychological analysis of Carl Rogers, Eleanor H. Porter’s Pollyanna novel shows that the major character, Pollyanna, builds positive self concept. Thirdly, based on humanistic psychological analysis of Abraham Maslow, Pollyanna’s behavior generally is based on belongingness and love needs.
