IMPACT OF CLIMATE CHANGE ON AGRICULTURAL PROF. A. V. SHASHIKALA M. A., M. Phil, PhD. PRODUCTIVITY DEPARTMENT OF GEOGRAPHY OSMANIA UNIVERSITY A Case Study of Andhra Pradesh HYDERABAD. PREFACE Climates have changed in the past and will continue to change over in the future.Along with crustal evolution of the earth surface, climatic changes were bound to be evidenced due to cumulative impact of terrestrial and extra-terrestrial forces.Eustatic and isostatic impacts of such changes were always felt on the vast geo processes and subsequently on the land use systems. However, in the present anthropogene period particularly in the last few decades the global climatic changes due to human centric activities has become an issue of concern, because of its impact on intensity of temperature and rainfall variations, sea level changes, frequency increase in extreme climatic events like floods and droughts. All these would definitely have a long-lasting impact on human livelihoods and food security.

ISSN 2319-8885 Vol.05,Issue.13 May-2016, Pages:2637-2640 www.ijsetr.com Urban Sprawl: A Case Study of Kodada Town in Nalgonda District of Telangana State YASIR ABDULAMEER NAYYEF PG Scholar, Dept of Geo-Informatics, University College of Science, Osmania University, Hyderabad, TS, India, E-mail: [email protected]. Abstract: The process of urban is a universal phenomenon taking place the world over, where humans dwell. All countries are prone to this bewildering phenomenon chiefly responsible due to the increase in population growth, economy and infrastructure initiatives. The extent of the sprawl is one such phenomenon that drives the change in land use patterns. The sprawl normally takes place in radial direction around the town centre or in linear direction along the highways. Usually sprawl takes place on the urban fringe, at the edge of an urban area or along the highways. The present study is Kodada municipality of Telangana state. It is a municipality and the mandal headquarters of Kodad mandal in Suryapet division. It lies on the National Highway 65 between Hyderabad and Vijayawada. It has the population of 64,234. The study area is situated in latitude16° 59' 49.4880'' N and the longitude79° 58' 2.4996'' E. It is located on the eastern side of Nalgonda District of the southern Indian state of Telangana. Kodada climate is too hot in summer. Kodad summer highest day temperature is in between 35 °C to 48 °C. Average temperatures of January is 24 °C, February is 26 °C, March is 29 °C, April is 33 °C, May is 36 °C .

  • Chapter-I INTRODUCTION
Chapter-I INTRODUCTION India is predominantly an agrarian country where 70 per cent of its population still depends on agriculture for its livelihood. They are differentiated in terms of their relationship with the ownership of land such as supervisory agriculturists, owners - cultivators, share-croppers, tenants and landless labourers. In local parlance, they are known as kisans, thanks to the influence of western scholarship kisan is often translated as peasant in the academic literature published in English. It is known to the history that Indian kisan waged a tireless battle against all sorts of oppression for his sustinance.1 In 1870, the Kisan movement began in the East Bengal. The zamindars of Bengal are notorious for they began to exploit and humiliate the farmers by confiscating their property illegally and by using coersive methods. The farmers who were accustomed to the tradition of resisting these methods, united themselves into societies. They demanded for the abolition of land tax and began to attack the zamindars and their agents. It was only when the government intervened and suppressed the movement by taking stringent measures. As a result of the movement, Tenant Act was framed in 1885, for the first time in Bengal which receded the attacks on the farmers. This Act provided an opportunity to some categories of farmers to become permanent tenants of the land.2 Peasant Movement in India The sources on Peasant movement in India becomes difficult on account of the paucity of comprehensive data on the subject. With this basic limitation, an attempt is made here to analyse it in terms of its historical evolution in India.
