How did you hear about the Board/s you are applying for? * Employer Why are you interested in serving on the Board/s you are applying for? Community Action is a significant provider of social services in the county, particularly as it relates to homelessness. Our organization is a leader on this issue and we have a long working history with the county, other local government, and nonprofit partner. I believe our presence on HPAC is critical and mutually beneficial to both parties. Are you interested in other volunteer opportunities? Yes No If you are interested in other opportunities, may we contact you? Yes No What education, work experience, volunteer experience or life experience do you bring? I am a nonprofit professional with 15 years experience including 11 years at the senior management level, and I am currently the Executive Director at Community Action. Progressive work history includes a proven record of program implementation including mission delivery for $1.5MM nonprofit organization, fund development, external communications, development of an engaging volunteer program, budget oversight, and management of diverse stakeholder relationships. I hold a BA in Politics from Willamette University and have lived in the Cedar Hills neighborhood of Unincorporated Washington County for 14 years. My most recent volunteer experiences have included serving as President of the William Walker ES Parent-Teacher Club and serving as a wish granter for Make-A-Wish Oregon. Describe your understanding of the concerns and issues facing the Board/s you wish to serve on. Homelessness is a major challenge facing our community and I believe most residents in Washington County are eager to address it. Homelessness is a dynamic issue that requires a diverse set of strategies that best address individual needs. The fact that there is not a single straight-forward solution makes it hard for many people to see where gains have been made and understand which strategies are having the greatest impact. The county has a tremendous number of funding priorities beyond addressing homelessness. I believe HPAC plays an important role to play in validating successful strategies and to help the county commissioners have confidence that they are directing resources in a way that has the greatest amount of impact. List any potential conflict of interest between your public and private service that might result from your appointment to a Board/s you are applying for. Community Action has contracts with the county directly related to housing and homeless services. We also have county commissioners who volunteer on our board of directors or board-related committees. Pam Treece currently has a seat on our Board, and Jerry Willey currently serves on our Finance Committee.
