Many thanks to Wenyi Jia, DDS, MS, Prosthodontist, who shared her expertise in September and to James Walker, DDS, Endodontist, who did the same in October. Both gave informative, professional presentations in their respective fields of Dentistry. Also in October, our ODA Trustee, Matthew Biermann, DMD, MS gave a Trustees Report to those in attendance. Thanks also to our generous sponsors. Mandatory dental exams for first graders passed the legislature. The ODA is now working towards having an “exam day” next August to screen kids that may not have a dental home. The ADA software program Aptify has now been adopted so there is greater coordination between our local and state association and the ADA. He quoted Jason Aldean (a country singer, for those not fortunate enough to be fans). “Make a few marks, leave a few stains” and “We may not be around in 20 years but they’ll sure know that we were here”. The Oregon Dental Foundation realigned with ODA so Conor McNulty is now the Executive Director of both and Maurisa Fisher is the new Director of Development for the ODF. The new Oregon Board of Dentistry Executive Director is Mr. Stephen Prisby. He had been the board’s Office Manager for 3 years. They will hold a strategic planning session in April. The Board is encouraging using the Prescription Drug Monitoring system. Dr. Dan Blickenstaff is a new examiner. HOD Report 2015 continued on Page 6 .
