2016 U.S. Women’s Football Leagues Addendum New Mexico Adult Football League – Women’s Division (NMAFL-W) – 2015 Season The NMAFL-W launched in 2015 with five teams in New Mexico. The Alamogordo Aztecs failed to complete the season, while the Amarillo Lady Punishers joined the league late and absorbed four forfeit losses before even getting out of the gate. But the Lady Punishers were formidable once they got started, upsetting the previously undefeated Roswell Destroyers in the playoffs to make it to the first NMAFL-W title game. The Boston Breakers find themselves right in the mix. The longest-running professional women’s soccer team in U.S. history, the Breakers have roots dating back more than a decade. The franchise was established in 2000, debuting in the Women’s United Soccer Association (WUSA) in 2001. The Breakers competed for three seasons in WUSA before the league folded. When Women’s Professional Soccer (WPS) was formed in the fall of 2007, the Breakers joined the league and began play when WPS officially launched its first season in 2009. The Breakers played three seasons in WPS (2009-2011) before the league suspended operations in 2011. In their three WPS seasons, the Breakers reached the playoffs twice. In 2012, the Breakers played in the eight-team WPSL Elite League, which featured eight teams from the Midwest and up and down the East Coast. The Breakers won the regular season championship with an 11-3 record.

  • Boston Neighborhood Network Dear Friends
Transition Years 2007–2012 Boston Neighborhood Network Dear Friends “As I approach 3025 Washington Street to go to work, I picture this scene years ago when the Orange Line was running—tracks high above the street, the train rattling out of Egleston Station past a grand old building that looked like a church on the outside, but on the inside housed massive converters to power the trains,” reflects Curtis Henderson, BNN General Manager. This imposing edifice, vital to the community since 1909, was left vacant when the elevated train tracks were torn down and created a stain on the neighborhood. But today we are part of something different—a beautifully rehabilitated building that has preserved its architectural integrity and brought it into the 21st century with green technology—a building alive with learning, creating and sharing—BNN’s home, the Charles J. Beard II Media Center. Youth and seniors and everyone in between, from every corner of the city, use this state-of-the art media center to learn the latest communications technology and to create TV program- ming they share on our channels and on our website. Our mobile production truck, parked in our backyard, cruises the city covering events in every community Board of Directors and our satellite dish on the roof of the building brings down programming of interest to Bostonians. Boston Neighborhood Network News celebrated its 25th year FY 2007 – 2012 on BNN’s News and Information channel and is going stronger than ever, with web-streamed programs and a dynamic companion website. Kenan Bigby It took hard work, dedication and perseverance from people who care about the revitalization of a neighborhood, who care about bridging the digital divide and who care about preserving our first amendment rights to complete this project and we thank them all: our Board of Directors, staff, members, partners, supporters, col- Reebee Garofalo laborators and funders.

  • From Militia to Renegades: Women's Football Returns to Somerville - Gate House
5/29/2015 From Militia to Renegades: Women's football returns to Somerville - Gate House Print Page By Sam Goresh [email protected] April 30. 2015 7:02AM From Militia to Renegades: Women's football returns to Somerville On April 18, the locker room at Dilboy Stadium was filled with a quiet energy as the Boston Renegades went through their pregame rituals preparing for the home opener against the Central Maryland Seahawks. Players put their pads on and braided their hair. Some chatted with teammates while others sat quietly. Hugs and high fives were shared. In many ways it was a typical locker room scene. But five months ago, when many of the Renegades were still known as the Boston Militia, it seemed unlikely to happen. A few weeks after getting their rings for their third Super Bowl win, the team was told their owner was ceasing operations. The team that called Dilboy Stadium their home and brought three women’s football championships to the Boston area was no more. But a determined group of players and alumni would not let a season go by without a women’s football Boston Renegades linebacker Vicky Eddy team playing in Somerville. (right) puts eye black under linebacker Renegades member Amanda Alpert, 31, had been playing football her entire adult life and wasn’t going to give it up.
