Borough of Hove – Proceedings of Committees  1914-1918  Collected minutes of council meetings.

The Brighton Season: a record of the season’s social happenings, 1916-17 autumn and winter (Book)  1916 -1917  Articles, photographs and adverts about people and places from Brighton during wartime.

Francis Wolseley – Cuttings, common place book – women and the land (Scrapbook).  Writings and ephemera collected by Francis Wolseley concerning horticulture during WW1.

The Great War (Books), edited by H.W. Wilson  13 Volumes, published throughout the war. 1914-1919.  A summary of the whole of the First World War, with historical analysis and images.

The Hove Roll of Honour (Catalogued Archive of Collected Documents and Photographs)  The Hove Roll of Honour is a collection of municipal war records, photographs and ephemera of service personnel who lived in Hove and died fighting in the First World War.  6 volumes of collected records and 5 Volumes of collected photographs - over 400 images.  WW1monument in Hove Library foyer, a large brass plate with 631 surnames and initials.

Ways of viewing the Hove Roll of Honour:

1: Join the Special Collections Membership Scheme. It is free to do so. We need to have two passport photographs and see proof of address. You may view one record at a time. You may take images of the records, but can not use a scanner or the photocopier, due to the strong light.

2: Leave your email or postal address with the name of the individual you are enquiring about with a member of staff or email: [email protected] We can then send you images of the war record and any other information we might have.

Hove and Photographs  Over 30 photographs selected from the period, including images depicting War, Army, Family, Air and other context.  Part of the Hove Library Photographic archive – over 1000 photos donated to the Library Service, depicting life in Sussex.

Judy Middleton Collection  Photographs and local ephemera collected by local historian Judy Middleton.  This collection focuses on Hove and Portslade.  For enquiries please see the Enquiry Desk at Hove Library.

Walter Melville – Public life and Press Cuttings (Bound Collection of Cuttings, Pamphlets and Photographs)  Various contextual cuttings, pamphlets and photographs from newspapers and other sources concerning the Melville family.  Walter Melville was part of the War Commission for Brighton and Hove.  Volume 5 – concerns the war years.

 Up to the 1959 – the public may copy the whole map.  After 1959 – the public may only copy an A4 size section or 10% of the whole map.
