In the Roller Coaster World, RMC Towers Above the Competition In the roller coaster world, RMC towers above the competition Author : No offense to B&M, Intamin, Mack, and GCI, but Rocky Mountain Construction, a.k.a RMC, is the most innovative coaster manufacturer in the entire world. They've completely revolutionized the wooden coaster, enabling them to do things almost unheard of years ago. RMC has come a long way in such a short period of time, and they aren't slowing down anytime soon. Founded in 2001, RMC is fairly new to the coaster game. [DanielG] Established by Fred Grubb and Suanne Dedmon, RMC got cooking when they brought on Alan Schilke from Ride Centerline to help Grubb, who had previous work experience designing homes and zoo exhibits, with the coaster design. The two have developed some of RMC's most well-known coaster elements, including 1 / 2 their patented I-box track. A signature piece of RMC coasters, the I-box track requires less maintenance than a standard wooden coaster, and it also allows for more thrilling features such as twists and inversions. The first coaster to feature the I-box track was The New Texas Giant at Six Flags Over Texas. RMC followed up its debut by building two more coaster for 2013. They introduced both the Rattler at Six Flags Fiesta Texas and Outlaw Run at Silver Dollar City as their second and third coasters. But unlike New Texas Giant and The Rattler, Outlaw Run wasn't just re-tracked, but rather built from scratch. It took RMC four years to develop the wood beams used on Outlaw Run, making it their most ambitious project yet. It's been met with much praise since its opening in 2013. With four inversions, and being the fourth-fastest wooden coaster in the world, Outlaw Run is definitely not for the faint of heart. To further expand the reach of RMC, the company agreed to a deal with Vekoma to sell their coasters outside of the United States. In 2016, RMC's first European roller coaster debuted at Kolmarden Wildlife Park in Sweden. And while there is plenty of optimism for a future RMC European coaster in the future. However, it's the American coaster scene that RMC currently has its sights on. Cedar Point will be debuting their own RMC coaster in 2018. It will be a re-tracking of the parks old wooden ride, Mean Streak. This will mark the first time Cedar Fair has worked with RMC. And considering the theme park chains vast collection of parks, its great news for coaster fanatics. What makes an RMC coaster better than any other coaster manufacturer rides? It's that feeling you get of being on a classic wooden coaster, but also the thrill of a high-speed thrill ride with inversions and moments of weightlessness. RMC has found a way to capture both in one two and a half-minute ride. 2 / 2 Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org).
