La temporada continental al aire libre ha concluido con el evento de ranking mundial celebrado en octubre en Brasil. Nuestros arqueros ahora apuntan a los torneos del 2020, que incluyen los que tendrán lugar en Monterrey, Sucre, Arizona, Guatemala, Medellín y Lima, entre otros.
Nos preparamos para seminarios y misiones que tendrán como sedes a Orlando, San José, St. Kitts y Nevis, y nuestro primer encuentro técnico con la nueva federación de San Vicente y las Granadinas. Sobre estas actividades estaremos informando en nuestro boletín de noviembre.
The continental outdoor season is now over with the World Ranking Event held in Brazil in October. Our archers are now aiming at the 2020 events, which include very important tournaments in Monterrey, Sucre, Arizona, Guatemala, Medellin and Lima, among others.
We look forward to seminars and missions to take place in Orlando, San Jose, St. Kitts and Nevis, and our first technical contact with the new federation founded in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. We will be reporting on these events in our November issue.

Torneo Ranking Mundial en Brasil / World Ranking Event in Brazil
El último evento de Ranking Mundial de América en el año 2019 se celebró en el Centro de Entrenamiento de Maricá, Rio de Janeiro, Brasil, del 30 de septiembre al 6 de octubre. Participaron setenta arqueros de once países: Argentina, Bolivia, Brasil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, las Islas Vírgenes de Estados Unidos, las Islas Vírgenes Británicas, Paraguay, Perú y Trinidad & Tobago.
Los más altos puntajes en la ronda de clasificación fueron alcanzados por Marcus D’ALMEIDA (BRA-682-RM), Ane Marcelle DOS SANTOS (BRA-629-RW), Rafael KAWAKARI (BRA-705-CM), y Nora VALDEZ (COL-693-CW).
Se celebraron dos rondas separadas de partidos: una para el evento ranking mundial incluyendo a deportistas de países fuera de Suramérica, y la otra para el Campeonato Suramericano. Las medallas de Oro del ERM fueron a los cuellos de cuatro arqueros de Brasil: Marcus D´ALMEIDA (RM), Marina CANETTA (RW), Luccas ABREU (CM) y Larissa OLIVEIRA (CW).
Ninguno de los triunfadores en el evento de Ranking Mundial logró repetir en el Campeonato Suramericano, en el cual las primeras posiciones fueron ocupadas por Bernardo de OLIVEIRA (BRA-RM), Ane Marcelle DOS SANTOS (BRA-RW), Rafael KAWAKARI (BRA-CM), y Nora VALDEZ (COL-CW).

The last World Ranking Event in the Americas in 2019 was held at the Training Center in Marica, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on Sept. 30 – October 6. Seventy archers from eleven countries participated: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Virgin Islands US, British Virgin Islands, Paraguay, Peru and Trinidad & Tobago.
The top scores in the qualification round were achieved by Marcus D’ALMEIDA (BRA- 682-RM), Ane Marcelle DOS SANTOS (BRA-629-RW), Rafael KAWAKARI (BRA-705- CM), and Nora VALDEZ (COL-693-CW).
Two separate match play rounds were held: one for the World Ranking Event including countries from outside of South America, and the South American Championships. The WRE gold medals were claimed by four Brazilian archers: Marcus D´ALMEIDA (RM), Marina CANETTA (RW), Luccas ABREU (CM) and Larissa OLIVEIRA (CW).
None of the gold medal winners in the WRE managed to win the South American Championships, where the first positions were achieved by Bernardo de OLIVEIRA (BRA-RM), Ane Marcelle DOS SANTOS (BRA-RW), Rafael KAWAKARI (BRA-CM), and Nora VALDEZ (COL-CW).

Juegos Mundiales Militares / Military World Games
Los Séptimos Juegos Mundiales Militares tuvieron lugar en Wuhan, China, del 18 al 24 de octubre con arqueros recurvos de más de 25 países, incluyendo participantes de Brasil y los Estados Unidos. Corea, China, Italia y Rusia presentaron selecciones muy poderosas.
Se incluyó en el programa un evento para las categorías abiertas de recurvo de Para- Arquería. Michael Lukow, quien fue el único arquero de Estados Unidos, dominó la clasificación con 618 puntos, pero quedó finalmente ranqueado en el puesto 9 al perder inesperadamente su partido de octavos de final.
Dos arqueros de Brasil alcanzaron cuartos lugares muy destacados. Marina CANETTA llegó al match por la medalla de Bronce, encuentro en el que fue superada por la experimentada rusa Inna STEPANOVA 4 a 6. La alemana Elena RICHTER y la polaca Sylvia ZYZANSKA obtuvieron el oro y la plata respectivamente.

Bernardo de OLIVERIA, uno de los cuatro recurvos masculinos de Brazil, también llegó al partido por el tercer lugar, en el que el chino QI Kaiyao resultó superior con marcador de 7 a 1. OLIVEIRA se había clasificado en el puesto 15 con 662. El Campeón Olímpico de Atenas 2004 Marco GALIAZZO (ITA) fue el medallista de oro, relegando al segundo escaño al coreano LEE Woo Seok.

Se celebró un evento mixto especial con un arquero de recurvo y un para arquero en el mismo arco y sexo. La pareja brasileña integrada por Marcus D’ALMEIDA y Juan URREJOLA ganó sus encuentros ante Dinamarca, Francia e Italia, y se llevó el título.
The 7th Military World Games were held in Wuhan, China on October 18-24 with recurve archers from more than 25 countries, including 7 participants from Brazil and one from the United States. Very strong teams were fielded by Korea, China, Italy and Russia.
A Para event for recurve men and women open categories was held as part of the Games. Michael Lukow, who was the only US archer to compete at the event, won the Qualification Round with 618 points, but finally ranked 9th due to an unexpected loss in his 1/8 elimination match.
Very outstanding fourth places were achieved by two Brazilian archers. Marina CANETTA made it to the Bronze medal match, which she lost to the experienced Inna STEPANOVA from Russia 4-6. Germany’s Elena RICHTER and Poland’s Sylvia ZYZANSKA won Gold and Silver respectively.
Bernardo de OLIVEIRA, one of the four Brazilian recurve men, reached the Bronze match versus China’s QI Kaiyao. The Chinese archer was victorious with a 7-1 score. OLIVEIRA had ranked 15th in the Qualification Round with 662. The 2004 Athens Olympic Champion Marco GALIAZZO (ITA) took the Gold medal versus Korea’s LEE Woo Seok.
A special mixed team event was held with one recurve man and one para recurve man open. The Brazilian pair of Marcus D’ALMEIDA and Juan URREJOLA won their matches versus Denmark, France and Italy to win the title.

Copa Mundial Hyundai en Guatemala / Hyundai World Cup in Guatemala
El Comité Organizador de la Primera Etapa de la Copa Mundial Hyundai que tendrá lugar en la ciudad de Guatemala en abril del 2020 presentó su informe sobre los preparativos para este evento a Fernando Suárez, Manager de Eventos de World Archery, y la Presidente y el Secretario General de World Archery Americas María Emma Gaviria y Sergio Font. La reunión tuvo lugar en Guatemala los días 22 y 23 de octubre.
El informe incluyó una presentación sobre la estructura del Comité Organizador, las instalaciones para la Clasificación y las Finales, los hoteles que se utilizarán, y otros temas de interés. Los visitantes de World Archery y World Archery Americas quedaron muy satisfechos con el nivel de preparación demostrado hasta este momento.

The Organizing Committee of the First Stage of the Hyundai Archery World Cup to take place in Guatemala in April 2020 presented a report on their preparations to World Archery Event Manager Fernando Suarez and World Archery Americas President Maria Emma Gaviria and Secretary General Sergio Font. The meeting took place in Guatemala on October 22-23.
The report included a presentation on the structure of the Organizing Committee, the Elimination and Finals venue, the hotels to be used, and several other matters. The visitors from World Archery and World Archery Americas were pleased by the level of organization of the host city and LOC.

Certificación a Formadores de Entrenadores / Certified Coach Trainers
World Archery ha anunciado que los entrenadores Victoria URREA (CHI) e Ignacio COSTA (URU), participantes en el Seminario de Formadores de Entrenadores celebrado en Mar del Plata en noviembre de 2018, han sido certificados como Formadores de Entrenadores de Nivel 1 de World Archery luego de haber completado las tareas post- seminario. Esta certificación es válida por cuatro años, y para su renovación será necesaria la realización y evaluación de otro seminario de Nivel 1 por parte del entrenador.
World Archery has announced that coaches Victoria URREA (CHI) and Ignacio COSTA (URU), who took part in the Coach Trainers Seminar held in Mar del Plata in November 2018, have been certified as World Archery Level 1 Coach Trainers after having completed the post-seminar assignments. This status is valid for four years, after which the coach trainer will need to run another Level 1 seminar.

British Virgin Islands – Seminario de Arco Compuesto – Compound Seminar
El reciente campeón de los Juegos Panamericanos 2019, el salvadoreño Roberto Hernández, dictó una clínica de tiro con arco de cuatro días, del 12 al 15 de octubre, en las Islas Vírgenes Británicas. La iniciativa fue respaldada por el comité olímpico del país caribeño. “La clínica la organizó Islas Vírgenes Británicas. Ellos me contactaron a mediados de año, para las fechas del campeonato mundial, y ahí acordamos todo y me vine a estar con ellos acá en una clínica de cuatro días”, expresó Roberto.
Pensada inicialmente para arqueros de arco compuesto, el número ocho del mundo también tuvo la oportunidad de trabajar con arqueros de recurvo. Todos, con aspiraciones de competir a un nivel más avanzado. “Todas las mañanas teníamos un poco de teoría, hablamos de todo tipo de temas, desde procesos técnicos, análisis biomecánicos, materiales deportivos, tuneo, plan de entrenamiento, fortalecimiento, todos los temas relacionados con el desarrollo y el crecimiento del deporte en alta competencia”, agregó.
Grupos de 10 a 15 arqueros atendieron la clínica cada día; algunos, luego de culminar sus actividades escolares o universitarias. “Tienen muchas ganas de trabajar, de crecer, de desarrollarse en el deporte, e incluso, el Ministro de Deportes de las Islas Vírgenes Británicas asistió al curso para ver cómo se desarrollaba el evento, lo que muestra mucho interés de parte de las instituciones para hacer crecer el deporte”, manifestó Roberto.

Reigning Pan American Games Champion Roberto Hernandez of El Salvador delivered a four-day archery clinic in the British Virgin Islands on October 12-15. The initiative was supported by the National Olympic Committee of the Caribbean country. “The clinic was organized by the British Virgin Islands archery federation, who contacted me mid-year, close to the World Archery Championships, we arranged everything and agreed on the four-day clinic”, said Roberto.
Initially planned just for compound archers, the world-number eight ended up working with both compound and recurve archers with aspirations to compete at a higher level. “Every morning, we had a bit of theory, we spoke about all sort of topics, which went from technical processes, biomechanical analyses, sport equipment, tuning, training plans, strengthening, everything related with the development and growth of the sport,” he added.
A group of 10 to 15 archers attended the clinic each day, some of them after finishing school or university lessons. “They are eager to work, to grow and develop in the sport. We were even joined by the Sport Minister of the British Virgin Islands, who dropped by to check how everything was going, and this shows a lot of commitment from the institutions to help the sport,” said Roberto.
Chile: Nuevo Presidente / New President
La Federación Chilena de Tiro con Arco ha electo a un nuevo presidente para el período 2019-2023. El Sr. César OTAROLA, quien desempeñó un importante papel en la organización del Torneo Ranking Mundial en Santiago en abril del 2019, es el nuevo presidente. World Archery Americas le desea un exitoso mandato.
The Chilean Archery Federation elected a new President for the 2019-2023 period. Mr. Cesar OTAROLA, who was very much involved in the organization of the World Ranking Event in Santiago in April 2019, is the new President. World Archery Americas wishes him a successful term.

Paraguay: Cursos para Jueces y Entrenadores / Seminars for Judges and Coaches
Dos seminarios para la formación de jueces y entrenadores se realizaron del 12 al 14 de octubre en Asunción organizados por la Federación Paraguaya de Tiro con Arco con el apoyo del Comité Olímpico de este país.
Los seminarios fueron impartidos por el entrenador argentino Claudio VARISCO y la Jueza Internacional Paola PRASCHKER.
