3. Mir Mymayun .jah Bahadur. Born 1837 as the great grand-son

of TApu Sultan, travelled widely, elected from Madras

Legislative Council but died before taking his seat in

1894.

4. Pratap Narayan Singh , Born 1855 in the family of Oudh

Talukdars little Maharaja ( of Agodhia ) in 1887, elected

from the legislative Council of U. P. and Oudh in 1894.

16. Raja Muhammad All Muhammad Khan , Bom 1879, at Amroha in

the Sult&npur district, a Shia Muslim, Talukdar of Muiaammadabad

Oudh, Munshif of Lucknow, interested in education, attended

sessions of the Muslim League , elected in 1908.

He was eu. European elected from the Indian members

of the Madras Legislative Council. Educated at Oxford,

joined Lincoln’ s Inn, Practiced in the Madras High Court,

staunch follovver of the Ccrigretsa. He was d e c ted from the

Madras Legislative Ccuncil in 1895, but was obliged to

resign imaediately on account cf a case pending against

him. 388

The Government of India* s despatch made the following observation about the working of the electorate under the

1892 Act : This electorate, however, while it hae worked - advantageously in the ease of one class, can hardly be said to have afforded proportionate representation to the other interests concnrned. Of the non-official members elected to the Imperial Council since 1893, 45 percent have belonged to professional middle class; the landlords, have obtained

27 percent of the seats and the Moheaimedansonly 1 2 percent.
