Working with school children across the Borough to make sure Roads and footpaths across Stockton-on-Tees Martin has been an Asset Inspector for just seven months, having previously they know how to stay safe when out and about near the road are inspected to identify any necessary repairs worked as a HGV driver on recycling since 2009. Over the last three years he has spent time shadowing Highways Inspectors and Technicians as well as gaining qualifications in highways, play area and wheeled sports inspections and loves his latest role. Martin said: “I never know what each day will bring and what I will find on my travels. I can walk up to 10-12 miles per day in all weathers inspecting every road, footpath and cycle path across the Borough looking for defects and hazards. Sometimes I must do a temporary repair for example on a pothole if it’s dangerous, then I’ll get the operational team to do a more permanent repair. “I am lucky enough that my role involves walked inspections of some of our beautiful parks and green spaces across the Borough. I particularly like 36 inspecting the areas within Ropner Park and Preston Park.” 37
