French exchange office of Huningue marked the red C.T.F. handstamp to indicate that the letter was from the colonies and was transiting through France, a marking that was introduced in 1818. Letter entered Switzerland at Basel where it was marked for 16 kreuzer debit to the Canton of lucerne for French and Basellransil fees. Lucerne marked 20 kreuzer due for accumulated transit fees and 22 kreuzer postage due at destination. u. At ZOrich letter marked for 100 kreuzer accumulated transit fees to ZOrich and 108 kreuzer accumulated transit fees to Canton Thurgau. Later, it was realized this letter was to go to Switzerland (emphasis provided by magenta ink) and letter sent to Basel where it was marked letter for 42 kreuzer postage due. At Canton Graubunden the currency in use was bluzger currency, which was 1Y2 times the kreuzer currency; therefore, the letter was marked at Chur for 63 bluzger postage due.
