To confirm the minutes of the Annual General Body Meeting held on March 28, 2018. 4. To adopt the Annual Report of the Secretary for the year 2018. 5. To approve the Audited Accounts for the year ending on 31st March 2018. 6. To appoint Auditors for the year 2019-20. 7. Reframing the policy for Prize & Scholarship distribution. 8. Patel, considered above the existing total number of thirty five executive committee members. 2 BIRLA VISHVAKARMA MAHAVIDYALAYA (Engineering College) VALLABH VIDYANAGAR BVM ALUMNI ASSOCIATION REPORT OF SECRETARY FOR THE YEAR - 2017-18 Dear Alumni, On behalf of BVM Alumni Association, I welcome you all to this Annual General Body Meeting of the year 2017-18. At the outset, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Er Bhikhubhai Patel, the President of the BVM Alumni Association, Dr Indrajit N Patel, the Chairman of BVM Alumni Association, all the office bearers, executive committee members, life members of the BVM Alumni Association and members of BVM and CVM family for providing support and guidance during the year. It gives me an immense pleasure to inform you that 744 life members were added during the year 2017-18. Our membership till date has now reached to 10,273 and as planned in the last year we have crossed the 10,000 mark. I am thankful to the alumni and well-wishers for extending the resource support to the tune of about 3.98 crore and 5.23 lacks for endowment and scholarships / gold medals, respectively. The list of the same is enclosed in Annexure - I and II respectively. The BVM Endowment Fund was instituted to generate a corpus fund for which the new bench mark of 75 crore is set. The BVM Endowment Fund is receiving a good response. Lecturers, Conferences and Technical Events BVM Alumni provide resource support for guest lecturers, short term training programs in all the ten departments of our college and invite scholars to share their knowledge and professional experience. This year eleven expert lectures were organized and four short term training programs were conducted by various department and their details are given in Table 1 and Table 2. The three best team projects in every 4 branche were given awards instituted by our BVM Alumni Association. The student winning groups had an opportunity to work in a team and we hope these teams would someday contribute greatly to our “Make in India” mission. Welcome Function The students of 2017 batch were given a warm welcome on September 5, 2017, and our distinguished alumnus Er. Vasantbhai Patel Chairman, Dynamic Auto looms India Pvt. Ltd. was the Chief Guest of the function. The interaction with him gave a true insight of his professional journey. The guest shared his rich engineering, academic and administrative experience to the incoming students. Dr Dipak Vyas suggested the distinguished alumnus to have a lifelong bonding with Alma Mater BVM. Dr. Indrajit N Patel, the President of the function informed about the rich legacy of this college and suggested students to work harder in college and boosted the academic morale of the students. About 575 plus students enjoyed the cultural program and showcased their talents. I thank Dr Dipak Vyas & his team who organized the vibrant cultural event that included personality contest, skits, mimes, solo & group dance, and solo & group singing. Farewell Function The outgoing students of the 2017 batch were given a farewell on April 13, 2017. Er. B M Vyas, Former, Managing Director, Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation, a 1971 BVM Alumnus of Mechanical Engineering Branch, was the Chief Guest of the function. The student group interviewed him and he shared his wisdom and rich experiences of professional life. All the Head’s of the Department interacted with the outgoing batch and asked them to remain in touch with Alma Mater. Dr Indrajit N Patel in his Presidential remarks requested the students to promote class reunions for constant connectivity. About 460 students attended the function and they shared their experience. It was an emotional moment for the student as they parted from the college. Class Reunion ‘The Reunion USA and Canada’ at Vraj Temple, Pennsylvania on July 8-9, 2017 was organized and attended by 167 participants from USA and Canada and 12 participants from India. The committee from USA included Er Ketan Patel, Shilpa Gandhi, Er Deepak Shah, Er Gautam Patel, Er Karsan Limbasia, Er Rohit Patel, Er Jayant Khetani, Er Bharat Patel coordinated with Er Praful Jobanputra, Er Ravi Nayar, Er Vinod Panchasra, Er Tusharbindu Desai, Er Nitin R Patel, Er Vasudev Pandya and Er Kirit Khetani from India. The dais was honoured by Ex- Professor Mr Uday Deopurkar, Mrs Sudhmitaben Amin, Mr Shail Chokhavatia and Er Hemendra Jani. To make the event jovial, games were planned on July 9, 2017. Prof Indrajit Patel gave all the support from India and conveyed his good wishes for the function. The reunion of BVM Alumni was organized by Er Navin Devani and his team mates on 12-13 August, 2017 at Lonavala. About 165 plus alumni participated in this event. Dr. Indrajit N Patel conveyed the message to build a strong bonding through reunion. On behalf of BVM fraternity Prof Amit Bhavsar , Prof Vinay Patel and Prof Haresh Patolia attended the function. The entire BVM Alumni fraternity came forward for supporting flood relief activities at Deesa. Prof Amit 5 Bhavsar stated that the college had gained academic autonomy under TEQIP program. On the academic front he stated that the industry internship has been made mandatory to improve technical skills and professionalism of our students.
