Neighborhood Group News Port St. Lucie

For our May meeting, Belinda demonstrated the Candy Wrapper Pouch/Bag. We had a nice turnout for our meeting. Our June meeting was charity sewing, making pillowcases for Hibiscus Children’s Center, a shelter for children in our area. Seven of us showed up and sewed 16 pillowcases. I am sure the children will love them! In July we had a lunch at Olive Garden—good food and good conversation!

In September we will move our meeting day to the third Saturday of the month. The time will be the same, 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM.

Chapter Program

A special chapter program was held in May in Deerfield Beach. Emma Seabrooke from SewKeysE demon- strated and guided attending members on how to make decorative with their sergers. Using metallic and specialty threads beautiful trim was made by all. Whoever thought that our utilitarian sergers could produce such beautiful trims? Emma wrote the book on how to accomplish this.

ASG is planning a fabric design contest. There will be an article about this in the next Notions.

Every member will be eligible to submit a design or de- signs to ASG for our official 2017 ASG fabric. Designs may be photos, hand drawn, or computer generated. The original design has one criteria: somewhere in the design the official ASG logo must appear with the needle and . It does NOT have to be the focus, just included somewhere. And, of course, just like our newsletters, we cannot use copyrighted material from other sources. This must be an ORIGINAL design!!

ASG is working on having a site where submissions may be sent. In the meantime, members can start their creative juices working creating one or more submissions. Vot- ing will be done by Chapter Presidents after the first of the year and ASG plans to have the fabric ready for pur- chase by Conference 2017 in Orlando! ......

Neighborhood Group Meetings Neighborhood meetings are great places to meet with new and old friends. All neighborhood groups are open to any member and guests. Guests may attend two meetings before joining the Guild. Bring and share your sewing projects. Ask for help with problems you may be having. Please call first when attending at private homes. Occasionally, it’s necessary for programs to change after the newsletter is printed. The latest information is at www.asgfl.org.

Your attendance at programs sponsored by the American Sewing Guild may be digitally recorded through photographs and/or video recordings. These images may be used on our website or in our newsletters. If you do not wish your image to be published, please notify the photographer or Group Leader. All members are welcome to attend the Chapter Board meetings. You need to contact any board member (see page 2) in advance to confirm time and location.
