Ulusal Su Ürünleri Sempozyumu Bildiri Özet Kitabı'nda yayınlanan bildiri özetlerinin bilimsel içeriğine ilişkin her türlü hukuki sorumluluk ve imla hatalarının sorumluluğu yazarlara aittir. SUNUŞ Üniversitemiz her geçen gün gelişen ve büyüyen yapısıyla öğrencilerine kaliteli bir eğitim sunarken diğer yandan bölgesinin bilimsel ve sektörel gelişimi için de önemli faaliyetler yürütmektedir. Sinop Üniversitesi olarak; her yıl iki sempozyum, iki çalıştay ve iki bilimsel toplantı yapmayı hedeflemekte; düzenlenen her bilimsel organizasyon ile şehrimize ve bölgemize değer katmayı amaçlamaktayız. Bu kapsamda 12-15 Eylül 2017 tarihleri arasında Üniversitemiz Ahmet Muhip Dıranas Uygulama Oteli’nde gerçekleştirilen “19. Ulusal Su Ürünleri Sempozyumu” akademisyenleri ve sektör temsilcilerini Karadeniz’in incisi Sinop’ta bir araya getirmiştir. Sempozyuma su ürünlerinin çok çeşitli alanlarında yapılan araştırmaları ile katılan değerli bilim insanları, sektör temsilcileri ve tüm katılımcıları Sinop Üniversitesi bünyesinde ve Sinop’ta ağırlamaktan mutluluk duyduğumu belirtmek isterim. Ayrıca, sempozyumun düzenlenmesinde emeği geçen tüm çalışma arkadaşlarıma, kurumlara ve sektör mensuplarına üniversitem ve şahsım adına teşekkür ediyorum. Sempozyumda sunulan bildiri özetlerinden oluşan, 19. Ulusal Su Ürünleri Sempozyumu Bildiri Kitabı’nın, su ürünleri alanında yapılacak yeni çalışmalara ve sektöre ışık tutması dileklerimle. Prof. Dr. Nihat DALGIN Rektör ÖNSÖZ Sinop Üniversitesi ev sahipliğinde, 12-15 Eylül 2017 tarihleri arasında gerçekleştirilen ve Akademisyenleri, sektör temsilcilerini, kamu, kurum ve kuruluş temsilcilerini, Su Ürünleri Mühendislerini bir araya getiren 19. Ulusal Su Ürünleri Sempozyumu ile su ürünlerinin çeşitli alanlarında yapılan bilimsel araştırmalar, su ürünleri sektörünün gelişimi, gelecekten beklentileri, sorunları ve çözüm yolları bilimsel ve düzeyli bir tartışma ortamında ele alınmış ve yeni bilgilerin su ürünleri camiasına duyurulması sağlanmıştır. Sinop Üniversitesi Ahmet Muhip Dıranas Uygulama Oteli'nde dört gün süren ve 36 farklı üniversiteden 236 akademisyen, 26 kamu kurum/kuruluş temsilcisi ile 8 özel sektör temsilcisi olmak üzere 270 kişinin katıldığı bu sempozyumda, Olvido Konferans Salonu, Kumzambağı Toplantı Salonu ve Serenad Toplantı Salonunda, 29 oturumda, Su Ürünleri Avlama Teknolojisi, Balıkçılık Yönetimi, Balıkçılık Biyolojisi, Su Ürünleri Yetiştiriciliği, Balık Hastalıkları, Deniz Biyolojisi, Deniz Ekolojisi ve Kirlilik, İçsular Biyolojisi, İçsular Ekolojisi ve Kirlilik, Su Ürünleri İşleme Teknolojisi alanlarında yapılmış olan araştırmaların sunulduğu 116 sözlü, 110 poster bildiri ile hem bilim dünyasına hem de su ürünleri sektörüne katkı sağlanmıştır.     Parasites and cleaning behaviour in damselfishes Derek Sun BMarSt, Honours I A thesis submitted for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy at The University of Queensland in 2015 School of Biological Sciences i Abstract Pomacentrids (damselfishes) are one of the most common and diverse group of marine fishes found on coral reefs. However, their digenean fauna and cleaning interactions with the bluestreak cleaner wrasse, Labroides dimidiatus, are poorly studied. This thesis explores the digenean trematode fauna in damselfishes from Lizard Island, Great Barrier Reef (GBR), Australia and examines several aspects of the role of L. dimidiatus in the recruitment of young damselfishes. My first study aimed to expand our current knowledge of the digenean trematode fauna of damselfishes by examining this group of fishes from Lizard Island on the northern GBR. In a comprehensive study of the digenean trematodes of damselfishes, 358 individuals from 32 species of damselfishes were examined. I found 19 species of digeneans, 54 host/parasite combinations, 18 were new host records, and three were new species (Fellodistomidae n. sp., Gyliauchenidae n. sp. and Pseudobacciger cheneyae). Combined molecular and morphological analyses show that Hysterolecitha nahaensis, the single most common trematode, comprises a complex of cryptic species rather than just one species. This work highlights the importance of using both techniques in conjunction in order to identify digenean species. The host-specificity of digeneans within this group of fishes is relatively low. Most of the species possess either euryxenic (infecting multiple related species) or stenoxenic (infecting a diverse range of hosts) specificity, with only a handful of species being convincingly oioxenic (only found in one host species).

Olson The strategies of gene sequencing and gene characterisation in phylogenetic studies are frequently determined by a balance between cost and benefit, where benefit is measured in terms of the amount of phylogenetic signal resolved for a given problem at a specific taxonomic level. Generally, cost is far easier to predict than benefit. Building upon existing databases is a cost-effective means by which molecular data may rapidly contribute to addressing systematic problems. As technology advances and gene sequencing becomes more affordable and accessible to many researchers, it may be surprising that certain genes and gene products remain favoured targets for systematic and phylogenetic studies. In particular, ribosomal DNA (rDNA), and the various RNA products transcribed from it continue to find utility in wide ranging groups of organisms. The small (SSU) and large subunit (LSU) rDNA fragments especially lend themselves to study as they provide an attractive mix of constant sites that enable multiple alignments between homologues, and variable sites that provide phylogenetic signal (Hillis and Dixon 1991; Dixon and Hillis 1993). Ribosomal RNA (rRNA) is also the commonest nucleic acid in any cell and thus was the prime target for sequencing in both eukaryotes and prokaryotes during the early history of SSU nucleotide based molecular systematics (Olsen and Woese 1993).
