Press Release April 2015 Miss Piggy to Receive Her First Award at the 2015 Sackler Center First Awards at the Brooklyn Museum on June 4 Event to Feature Miss Piggy in Conversation with Gloria Steinem Kermit the Frog to Attend Ceremony Miss Piggy, ultimate diva and star of stage and screen, who has inspired generations throughout the world, will receive her very first award at the annual Sackler Center First Awards at the Brooklyn Museum. Kermit the Frog, who has received numerous awards and accolades in his lifetime, will be in the audience to witness this great honor. The awards ceremony and reception will take place at the Brooklyn Museum on Thursday, June 4, from 5 to 7 p.m. A private reception will be followed by the award presentation to Miss Piggy by Elizabeth Sackler. Miss Piggy, who was recently called “The Gloria Steinem of the Muppet world” by the Daily Beast, will give a brief acceptance speech, followed by a 20-minute video retrospective of her career, after which she will take the stage with Ms. Steinem, who has been on hand for the Sackler Center First Awards since its 2012 launch. The Muppets Studio will be sponsoring several groups attending this special event including children and their families from Ronald McDonald House New York, a temporary home-away-from-home for families battling pediatric cancer; Brooklyn-based Girl Scout Troops 2081 and 2158; Brooklyn-based Girls for Gender Equity; and artists from Groundswell, a community mural project. The annual Sackler Center First Awards celebrates women who have broken gender barriers and made remarkable contributions in their fields. -

Lehman Brothers: Reasons of Failure: (2007-2008) Ceos
LEHMAN BROTHERS: Lehman was a global financial services firm. Lehman Brothers started in 1844 as a small grocery and dry goods store established by Henry Lehman. Later on they traded cotton, moved to New York and established New York Cotton Exchange. After this events Lehman continued on the road of success and before declaring bankruptcy in 2008, Lehman was the fourth largest investment bank in the USA with 26000 employees, doing business in investment banking, equity and fixed-income sales and trading (especially U.S. Treasury securities), market research, investment management, private equity, and private banking. On September 15, 2008, the firm filed for bankruptcy protection following the massive exodus of most of its clients, drastic losses in its stock, and devaluation of its assets by credit rating agencies. The filing marked the largest bankruptcy in U.S. history, which is a major cause of crisis. REASONS OF FAILURE: (2007-2008) There were many reasons behind the collapse of Lahman brothers but the main cause was technical issues and corporate governance failures. Lehman Brothers had very weak corporate governance arrangements. The main areas of weakness were board of directors, corporate risk management, remuneration scheme and nomination committees. As the crisis started in August 2007 with the failure of two funds Lehman’s stock fell sharply. During that month company eliminated 2,500 jobs and shut down its BNC unit. It also closed offices in three states. Lehman’s collapse was a seminal event that greatly intensified the 2008 crisis and contributed to the erosion of close to ten trillion in market capitalization from global equity markets in October 2008, the biggest monthly decline on record at the time. -

Aging Baby Boomers Changing Face of Ohio’s Workforce Those 55 and older will comprise 22.4 percent of Ohio’s labor force by 2016, according to a new report issued by the ODJFS Bureau of Labor Market Information. “Ohio’s Graying Labor Force: Aging through 2016” explains population and labor force trends and their implication for workforce development. The report examines how age demographics differ among occupations and looks ahead to the future, with predictions about labor force participation rates, replacement rates, and worker migration patterns.
