He averaged 31.5 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 3.5 apg and 1.5 spg in the Knights’ 1-1 week. Ubilla shot 51.4 percent from the field and drained 13-24 shots (.542) from three-point range. The Freehold, NJ native began his week with a career-high 39-point effort in a 94-63 setback at #23 Rhode Island on Wednesday. The 39 points - which set a Ryan Center record, established an NEC single-game season-high and ranks fourth on FDU’s all-time single-game list - included a school record eight shots from beyond the arc. He also snared seven rebounds and dished for three assists. Three days later, Ubilla helped boost FDU to a 65-62 win at Mount St. Mary’s by tallying 24 points, four Home Team Underlined rebounds, four assists and three steals. He continued his torrid shooting by making 5-9 shots from three-point territory. After the Mount pulled to within one, Ubilla scored ten points in the final 3:31, including a pair of trifectas to clinch the victory. Following a regular season that saw him earn national acclaim, Mount St. Mary’s senior guard Junior Robinson (Mebane, NC/ Eastern Alamance) was unanimously named the NEC Player of the Year in a vote conducted by the league’s head coaches. NEC Rookie of the Year honors went to Robert Morris freshman forward Koby Thomas (Philadelphia, PA/Imhotep Charter). Mount St. Mary’s earned a second major honor when senior forward Chris Wray (Shelby, NC/Shelby (Fishburne Military School (VA))) was tabbed the NEC Defensive Player of the Year. Saint Francis U junior guard Andre Wolford (Willowick, OH/ Saint Ignatius) was voted the NEC’s Most Improved Player. Wagner’s Bashir Mason was chosen as the Jim Phelan Coach of the Year after leading the Seahawks to the NEC regular season title. The future also looks bright for the conference with 11 of the 15 All-NEC award recipients set to return next season, including five underclassmen.
