(State College, Pa.) and A.J. Palumbo Center (Pittsburgh, Pa.). Who Was Robert Morris? Robert Morris, Jr. (January 20, 1734 – May 8, 1806) was a Liverpool-born American merchant and signer of the Declaration of Independence, the Articles of Confederation and the United States Constitution. He was elected to the Pennsylvania Assembly, was chosen as a delegate to the Second Continental Congress, where he served as chairman of the “Secret Committee of Trade,” and as a member of the Committee of Correspondence. From 1781 to 1784, he served as the Superintendent of Finance, managing the economy of the fledgling United States. As the central civilian in the government, Morris was, next to General George Washington, “the most powerful man in America.” His successful administration led to the sobriquet, “Fi- nancier of the Revolution.” A look at his legacy:

• A portrait of Morris appeared on U.S. $1000 notes from 1862 to 1863 • Morris and Roger Sherman were the only two people to sign all three significant founding documents of the United States, the Declaration of Independence, the Articles of Confederation, and the U.S. Consti- tution. • The dollar sign ("$") was in common use among private merchants during the middle of the 18th century. It referred to the two columns draped with scrolls on the Spanish milled dollar, which predated the U.S. Dollar. Morris was the first to use that symbol in official documents. 2020-21 RMU Basketball NEC Champions: 1982, 1983, 1989, 1990, 1992, 2009, 2010, 2015, 2020 Schedule & Results Overall: 3-3 HL: 2-1 Home: 2-1 Road: 1-2 Neutral: 0-0 Date All / HL RMU/OPP W/L Opponent High Scorer High Rebounder Assists Nov. 28 @ Central Michigan canceled Dec. 2 FLORIDA GULF COAST canceled Dec. 5 1-0 75-57 W POINT PARK 18 - Bramah 8 - Ngonadi 6 - T.
