It was The Sealy News’ honor to bring you the sports news from all around the Austin County and there was certainly no shortage of tremen- 10. dous accomplishments despite the lack of time on the field. Student-athletes represented their towns and county at the district, region and state levels and the loss of another student-athlete brought the community closer together. The staff compiled the top 10 sports stories of the year. The countdown starts at No. 10 with the seniors in high school who signed on the dotted line to play at the next level.

Cowboy up Grayson Mays, the District 12-4A-D2 defensive MVP his final two years at Bellville, signed his National Letter of Intent to play football for the McNeese State Cowboys on the early signing day. He also garnered first-team all-district hon- ors at tight end the last two years to help the Brahmas extend a postseason streak to nine years. Mays earned academic all-district dis- tinction all four years and garnered academic all-state honorable mentions as a senior. His junior year he was named to the AP second- team all-state and as a senior he was named a first-team all-state defensive end by the Texas Sports Writers Association.
