On June 25th, members of Boy Scout Troop 318 of Lex- ington, Missouri met at their Scout cabin to begin an adven- ture of a lifetime. They were off to Alaska. They arrived in Fairbanks at approximately 1:00 a.m. Alaska time. The next morning they headed down the Dalton Highway to the Arctic Circle and the Arctic Ocean. The Dal- ton Highway often referred to as the “Haul Road” is 500 miles long and was built for the construction of the Alaskan Pipeline. They traveled for three days, camping along the side of the road, to Deadhorse, Alaska. Deadhorse is where the Northern Slope oilfields are located and where the Alaskan Pipeline begins. The Pipeline stretched from Deadhorse to Valdez, Alaska, a distance of 800 miles. Along the way, they saw dall Left to Right Standing: Darrell G.
