Workgroup Support Support for OMF and MXF media in a Workgroup environment is available in this release. See “Avid Unity Workgroup Support” on page 26. Mouse Scroll Wheel Support A new setting has been added to the editing application that allows you to use the scroll wheel of your mouse. The Mouse Settings dialog box allows you to set the speed of scrolling with the mouse wheel within the editing application. You can also assign functions to 3 additional mouse buttons. If you use a mouse with a wheel or additional buttons, use the following procedures to set the wheel speed and to assign functions to the additional mouse buttons. n You cannot assign functions to the standard left and right mouse buttons. Setting up the Mouse Scroll Wheel To set the mouse scroll speed: 1. Double-click Mouse Settings in the Settings list of the Project window. The Mouse Settings dialog box opens. 4 Changes for version 6.1.5 2. Select a speed from the Vertical Scroll Speed menu. Normal is the default setting. Normal scrolls one item at a time. Moderate scrolls two items at a time, and Fast scrolls 4 items at a time. To assign functions to additional mouse buttons: 1. Double-click Mouse Settings in the Settings list of the Project window. The Mouse Settings dialog box opens. 2. Select Tools > Command Palette. The Command palette opens. 3. Select Button to Button Reassignment at the bottom of the Command palette. 4. Click the tab from which you want to select a user-selectable button. 5. Click the mouse, and drag the button from the Command palette to a button location on the Mouse Settings dialog box. This is helpful if you want to assign certain functions to additional mouse buttons. For example, mouse button 3 can have a button function assigned to it. The buttons pressed along with the Shift, Ctrl, or Alt key can also have additional assigned functions. n Be careful when mapping the mouse buttons. Make certain that the modifier key that you are assigning to the button and command doesn't already have an alternate function. Using the Mouse Scroll Wheel in the Editing Application The Mouse scroll wheel can be used in a number of ways within the application. XDCAM Improvements Several performance and workflow improvements for XDCAM have been completed. XDCAM Import Improvements The speed of XDCAM high-res and proxy import via Firewire has been greatly improved. XDCAM Workflow Improvements The following changes have been made to the XDCAM Import Setting tab. The first checkbox “Force Import of both Proxy & High-resolution” is a simplification of the previous “Override import selection” setting. If the checkbox is checked, both proxy and high-resolution versions of the selected file are imported. If not, only the selected file is imported. • The checkbox “Only import clips with Good Shot Flag” has been added. In the Sony proxy browser software, users can flag clips with certain descriptive values. Selecting this checkbox in our application will restrict XDCAM imports to only those clips described with the OK or KP (keep) flag. 6 Changes for version 6.1.5 • A new dropdown, “Import Audio Channels” has been added. This sets the maximum number of audio channels to import. For example, if a file has 8 channels of audio, the user can select 2 from this drop down and only the first 2 channels of audio will be imported. The values that can be selected are: 2, 4, 6, and 8. • The disk label can now be changed in the bin column. Fixed Bugs The following fixes have been incorporated into the version 6.1.5 release. ➤ An Access Violation error occurred when doing a “Checkin All Bins” with SuperBin turned on. You no longer get an Access Violation error when checking in all bins. ➤ A “CM OFFSET OUT OF RANGE” error may have occurred when trying to open a bin. This has been fixed. ➤ Sampling colors within the Paint Effect caused color shift with subsequent samples. This has been fixed. ➤ AES Channels 1 and 2 could be phase shifted from word clock out. AES channels 3 and 4 could also be phase shifted from word clock and also phase shifted from channels 1 and 2. This has been fixed. ➤ When working with HD, the luma and Chroma were clipped in preview mode only. (Full quality did not clip). Now, the full range of video is seen in all quality modes. ➤ Timewarp effects in an HD sequence became unrendered when consolidated. This has been fixed. ➤ Sequences containing rendered EQ’s did not correctly render from In to Out if dissolves were added. This has been fixed. ➤ A “Menu Resource” error occurred when trying to modify a title or open the title tool after changing projects. This has been fixed. 7 ➤ Titles using saved templates did not maintain changes after being modified. This has been fixed. ➤ When you saved a modified title, the previously set crop setting did not remain. This has been fixed. ➤ Previously, a tape name could not be modified for an imported master clip. The tape name can now be changed. ➤ The following FilmScribe improvements have been implemented: • The handling of files has improved with the following changes: When you select Preview, you are prompted for a folder to save the html files. If the folder is not empty, you can CANCEL. If OK, the appropriate files are created in the folder. We no longer delete old files in that folder, although we do overwrite files with the same name as new ones. File names now contain the sequence name (“Title” field in the UI). Non alphanumerics are removed first. For example, the Assemble TabbedList for the sequence ABC123 would be ABC123_Assm.txt (formerly just Assemble.txt). This applies to html files also. Hyperlinks in the WebLists reflect the changed names as well. If previewing WebLists, the default browser is opened and the first selected list is displayed. If previewing TabbedLists, a dialog box opens giving the folder name and a choice of OK or SHOW. Choosing SHOW will launch the OS file folder display. You can double-click any of the .txt files to view them. • FilmScribe required the user to have Administrative privileges. The FilmScribe user no longer has to have Administrative privileges. • When the Show Prefix option is deselected, the key number prefix is not displayed in the cutlist.
