As one of the pioneers of responsible tourism holidays in North Cyprus, including eco-tourism and agri-tourism related holidays, Vivid Cyprus is working hard to help conserve the natural and cultural heritage of the island. Trip Name: Hiking around Korucam and Bellapais, north Cyprus Trip No. 13232 Trip Duration: 8 days Grade: 2.5 Grading Explanation: 1-5 (1-very easy; 2-easy; 3-challenging; 4-difficult; 5-very difficult) Activity: Hiking on and off road Accommodation : 7 nights in 2 star hotel Recommended time: Daily all year round Overview of this tour With this package, we are offering you a set of trails in two different areas of North Cyprus: northwest and centre of Beşparmak range where you can experience nature, ‘touch’ history and enjoy sea views. Initially hiking will be around Korucam. Several nature trails have been marked around the area suitable for hiking. They start in the village of Korucam and then diverge in different directions but in all of them, due to the proximity to the sea and the altitude of the trail, the views are magnificent. There is a pine forest on the way and the area is dotted with carob and olive trees. After experiencing Korucam, you will be transferred to Bellapais village, one of the gems of North Cyprus with its 12th century Lusignan abbey. During the next two walks, you might P a g e | 1 VakıflarCarşısı, Kat 2, No. 10/11, Girne (Kyrenia), KKTC (North Cyprus), 99300. MEMORANDUM OWNERSHIP STATUS OF HOTELS AND OTHER ACCOMODATION FACILITIES IN THE OCCUPIED PART OF THE REPUBLIC OF CYPRUS The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus hereby publishes a list1 of hotels situated in the Turkish occupied part of Cyprus. The majority of these hotels belong to Greek Cypriot displaced persons who were forced to leave their properties following the Turkish invasion of 1974 or have been built illegally on properties belonging to displaced Greek Cypriots, in violation of the latter’s property rights and without their consent. A number of hotels belong to Turkish Cypriots or have been built on land belonging to Turkish Cypriots. The European Court of Human Rights, in its Judgment of 18 December 1996, on the individual application of the Greek Cypriot displaced owner from Kyrenia, Mrs. Titina Loizidou, against Turkey, and in the Fourth Interstate Application of Cyprus against Turkey of 10 May 2001, upheld the rights of the refugees to their properties. In the Loizidou case, the Court ordered the Government of Turkey to compensate the applicant for the time period of deprivation of use of her property and to provide full access and allow peaceful enjoyment of her property in Kyrenia. The right of the displaced owners to their properties was reconfirmed in the decision of the European Court of Human Rights (Dec. 2005) regarding the application of Myra Xenides- Arestis v. Turkey, and has since been repeatedly reconfirmed in a multitude of cases brought by Greek Cypriot owners of property in the occupied part of Cyprus against Turkey]. It should also be reminded that, according to the United Nations Principles on Housing and Property Restitution for Refugees and Displaced Persons (the Pinheiro principles) “all refugees and displaced persons have the right to have restored to them any housing, land or property of which they were arbitrarily or unlawfully deprived..”.

f California Regional Facility ^ UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA AT LOS ANGELES UNIVEKSITY of CAL1F0K1«<1A AT LOS ANGELES LIBRARY MY EXPERIENCES OF CYPRUS — — — — — — — — — — — SOME PRESS OPINIONS ON THE ORIGINAL EDITION OF THIS WORK (1906) " A bright account of a beautiful island by one with exceptional opportunities of knowing both the place and the people." Standard. " The remarkable series of photographs illustrating the traveller's record should alone inspire readers with the desire to visit Cyprus. The book is, altogether, thoroughly worth reading." Westminster Gazette. " A very interesting account of the life on the island, its history, and the cities which adorn it. Full of interest to the archaeologist and the historian. Indeed the book is most interesting, and the numerous photo- graphs are admirable." Daily Telegraph. " Many questions of policy and administration are discussed in a manner that derives additional weight from the author's close acquaintance with the conditions, and the book will be appreciated not only by travellers but also by the British tax- payer." Morning Post. " Mr. Stewart has written an interesting book on Cyprus, and indeed no mind with a sense for history and legend could fail to be inspired by an island whose annals incarnate all the romance of the Crusades." Tribune. " Very pleasantly does the author describe his visit to these historic places. He has not attempted a learned book, but has given us one that is not without instruc- tion." Liverpool Daily Post. "There are hints and suggestions which make a perusal of the book well worth the while of the politician." Glasgow Herald.

ABSTRACT This dissertation examines the socio-economic and socio-cultural dynamics of medieval Famagusta from the thirteenth to the fifteenth centuries. Contrary to the traditional historiography suggesting that Famagusta enjoyed commercial privilege after the fall of Acre in 1291 and lost its importance with the Genoese occupation of the city in 1374, this work offers more detailed analysis of economic and social dynamics of the late medieval Famagusta by examining wide-range of archival evidence and argues that Famagusta maintained its commercial importance until the late fifteenth century. In late medieval ages, Famagusta enjoyed economic prosperity due to its crucial role in Levant trade as a supplier and distributor of agricultural and luxury merchandise.
