URAYASU, CHIBA—“Tokyo Disney Resort® 30th: The Happiness Year” begins on April 15, 2013 and continues through March 20, 2014 to mark this milestone anniversary for the Resort. During the 340 days of celebration, the Disney characters, the Cast Members and all Guests visiting the Resort will be able to share a whole new level of happiness. Guests will find new entertainment, a new Tokyo Disneyland® attraction, commemorative merchandise, special menus, delightful decorations and more. The history of Tokyo Disney Resort began on April 15, 1983 with the opening of Tokyo Disneyland Park, followed by the openings of Tokyo DisneySea® Park and three Disney Hotels. From the beginning, Tokyo Disney Resort has been a place where ―dreams come true,‖ creating memories filled with happiness for all the Guests. And so, the theme for this major milestone year is ―happiness.‖ During this yearlong celebration, Guests will be able to share new discoveries, wonder and excitement with their family and friends, as well as with the Disney characters and the Cast Concept image only. © Disney Members. Kicking off ―The Happiness Year‖ on April 15 will be the new Tokyo Disneyland daytime parade, “Happiness Is Here.” The Disney characters show various types of happiness in this colorful, exhilarating parade that is 500 meters long. All the Guests are sure to have smiles on their faces as they watch the spectacular new parade. And then on May 7 at Tokyo Disneyland, the new attraction Star Tours: The Adventures Continue will debut. With 3D visuals and more than 50 different story combinations, the attraction will offer Guests new experiences and unexpected thrills each time they ride. Decorations at the two Parks and other locations around the Resort will feature the motif of colorful Happiness Balloons. Guests will find special merchandise with balloon motifs and special menus with tasty dishes that will delight the eye. The three Disney Hotels will serve a variety of lavish menus, while Tokyo Disneyland Hotel will offer room amenities designed just for the anniversary. And Happiness Balloons will decorate one of the monorail trains of the Disney Resort Line as well. Spanning a length of 500 meters and composed of 13 floats in seven themed units, this spectacular parade overflows with vibrant color, fun and exhilaration. Concept image only. © Disney The opening unit of the parade expresses the happiness created by joyful music. Guests first see Goofy on a float designed like a Mickey Mouse toy, followed by a steam locomotive-like float. The next unit has floats with characters from Lilo and Stitch and the Toy Story film series expressing various kinds of friendship. Coming up next is the unit recreating the sumptuous and regal procession conjured up through Aladdin’s wish. ―Beauty‖ is the theme of the next unit expressed through the world of the Disney princesses and fairies. The whimsical ―wonder‖ of Alice’s world and the honey-drenched world of Winnie the Pooh’s ―dream‖ are expressed in the units that follow. The final unit brings the ―dreams come true through the Disney Friends‖ to all the Guests with Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse and their pals riding on a 12-meter-high float shaped like a hot-air balloon filled with ―happiness balloons.‖ “Happiness Is Here” is sponsored by NTT DOCOMO, Inc. The current daytime parade “Jubilation!” will end on April 5, 2013. Decorations The Main Entrance of the Park, World Bazaar and the central Plaza will be enlivened with decorations designed as colorful Happiness Balloons. The 30th Anniversary logo and colorful Happiness Balloons will also adorn Cinderella Castle. The Mickey Mouse flower bed inside the Main Entrance will be completely changed to a photo location with figures of the Disney characters dressed in their 30th Anniversary costumes. At the Plaza Terrace, Guests will find Happiness Sharing Spots. These unique monuments allow Guests to feel a happiness born of surprise. When they touch these monuments, lights and sound express the moment that happiness is created. Guests can also use a Happiness Sharing Pendant (2,500 yen) at the Happiness Sharing Spots for further enjoyment. (See ―Special Merchandise‖ below for more details.) 13/02/21 Guided Tour For the 30th Anniversary, a special guided tour of the ―happiness‖-filled Park will be available for a limited period only. “Through Disney Dreams and Magic: The Happiness Year Special Version” will offer access to an exclusive viewing area for the new daytime parade, ―Happiness Is Here,‖ as well as allow tour participants to fully enjoy the charm of the Park’s anniversary. Dressed in their 30th Anniversary costumes, Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy, Pluto, Duffy and ShellieMay appear on the barge and, to the music of the Tokyo Disney Resort 30th Anniversary theme song, greet Guests with the lyrics (in Japanese) ―Let’s share with our dear friends and family all of the ―happiness‖ experiences.‖ Guests are invited to join in a simple hand gesture dance and the Disney characters see the Guests off on their journey to experience new kinds of happiness in the Park. Decorations Tokyo DisneySea will also be decorated with colorful Happiness Balloons to vividly and richly celebrate the 30th Anniversary. Around the DisneySea AquaSphere will be photo spots with the Disney characters and balloons, while gorgeous decorations add color to the Passaggio MiraCosta corridor leading to Mediterranean Harbor. Also, at the five themed ports of Port Discovery, Lost River Delta, Mermaid Lagoon, Arabian Coast and Mysterious Island, Guests will find Happiness Sharing Spots that express through lights and sound, the moment that happiness is created. Guests can also use a Happiness Sharing Pendant (2,500 yen) for further enjoyment at those spots. (See ―Special Merchandise‖ below for more details.) 13/02/21 At Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea Parks Entertainment Happiness on High This fireworks spectacular is a special version just for the 30th Anniversary celebration (not presented during certain periods). The nighttime sky above the Parks will come alive with colorful fireworks accompanied by the Tokyo Disney Resort 30th Anniversary theme song. Special Merchandise A total of about 600 different types of special merchandise will be available at Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea, starting from April 11. The merchandise will feature designs of the Disney characters and ―happiness balloons,‖ as well as designs of Mickey Mouse wearing costumes from the past 30 years. One of the special items is the interactive Happiness Sharing Pendant1 (2,500 yen) that can be used to experience the ―happiness‖ at the five Happiness Sharing Spots2 in each of the two Parks. By using the Happiness Sharing Pendant to collect three or more ―happiness‖ lights, Guests will be presented with an original pendant accessory. Tokyo Disneyland will offer limited edition3 special merchandise, including a display set of figures from the ―Happiness Is Here‖ parade and diamond necklaces. At Tokyo DisneySea, special merchandise featuring Duffy and ShellieMay4 will be sold.
