    Butte County Pre-Disaster Mitigation Plan December 2010 Butte County Office of Emergency Management The Butte County Pre-Disaster Mitigation Plan was developed to meet the requirements of the Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000 for the political subdivisions of the City of Belle Fourche, the City of Newell, Town of Nisland (including Fruitdale and Arpan), Vale Township, Union Township (including Castle Rock and Hoover), and Butte County. The original plan was written and approved in 2004. This is an update to the original plan. The purpose of the Pre-Disaster Mitigation Plan is to provide strategies and enumerate potential projects for mitigating or reducing the loss of life and property in the event of an emergency or disaster within the confines of Butte County and its political subdivisions.
