In record time, she’s become one of the most sought after acts in New England, sharing stages with Chris Isaak,The Courtyard Hounds, Suzy Boggus and Rodney Crowell and playing to a packed house The Boston Music Festival. Black also recently made her mark down south on the live radio show Music City Roots hosted by Jim Lauderdale, as a headliner at The Basement (Nashville) and Eddie’s Attic (Georgia) and at the Americana Music Association Conference. The Boston Herald wrote that her “stunning debut” of original music on One Time brims with "beautifully imagined sound and soul" Will Kimbrough is a singer, songwriter, award-winning guitarist, multi-instrumentalist, producer, performer and bandleader with a voracious appetite for every aspect of music. Born and raised in the deep south of the Alabama Gulf Coast, he ingested eclectic FM radio sounds and the music of nearby New Orleans. In his quest to develop his musical capacities to their fullest, Will Kimbrough has become a modern-day Renaissance Man. Will Kimbrough’s latest album, his seventh solo long-player, is Sideshow Love, a 12 track song cycle exploring the human heart and love in all its guises. According to close friend and longtime partner Tommy Womack, Sideshow Love is not only the best showcase for Kimbrough’s guitar work, but his best collection of songs yet. The record focuses on love in all forms, the ups and downs of romantic love, wistful longing, spiritual wandering and old fashioned lust. Sideshow Love will be released in Fall 2013. www.amyblack.com www.willkimbrough.com http://www.godfreydaniels.org/Shows/Schedule-by-Month/March-(1)/Amy-Black---Will-Kimbrough.aspx 1/2 9/12/2014 Godfrey Daniels - Amy Black & Will Kimbrough For other shows, please visit... Bama Breeze Jimmy’s latest CD is scheduled to be released on October 10. Award winning bassist Glenn Worf, Mobile native Will Kimbrough, Little Feats’ Billy Payne, and Party At The End Of The World slide guitar master Sonny Landreth joined Jimmy and the resident Coral Weather With You Reefers in Key West last February at what was then the Party At The End Of The World. We knew better than to refer to it as such so early, but it Everybody's On The Phone was a working title. In between fishing and boating trips, and sampling the Whoop De Doo keys culinary offerings, “should I spend time on the treadmill or eat at Hogfish,” Jimmy and his talented troop started the “party” that ended as Nothin' But A Breeze “weather” in Mac McAnally’s studio in Muscle Shoals. Cinco De Mayo In Memphis All the talent trapped in the old ice house on Key West’s historic waterfront Reggabilly Hill set the substance for the new recording, and the style was added by Mac and Mr. Utley. Meanwhile, Jimmy was overseas watching World Cup soccer and Elvis Presley Blues hanging with Mark Knopfler – not exactly dire straits. A video was filmed last Hula Girl At Heart summer for the song “Bama Breeze” and Jimmy told the Boston Globe’s Steve Morse, “It's a tribute to those honky-tonks that line the Gulf Coast where Wheel Inside The Wheel I grew up on the Alabama, Mississippi, Florida coast of the Gulf. It's about Silver Wings the infamous Flora-Bama bar.

  • Damn Sure Blue
KATE CAMPBELL DAMN SURE BLUE 09/21/18 Singer-songwriter Kate Campbell turned to the Man in Black for inspiration on her latest Large River Music release Damn Sure Blue. In fact, two of the songs from this soulful collection of tunes stem directly from Johnny Cash’s prolific catalog—the folk classic, “The Ballad of Ira Hayes” and his self-penned “Forty Shades of Green.” In addition to giving a nod to Cash, Kate chose his ode to the Emerald Isle in commemoration of her annual treks to Ireland where she hosts a music and heritage tour every summer for a group of die-hard fans. And by enlisting award-winning Americana guitar whiz Will Kimbrough as producer, this album plays like a Sunday afternoon drive down Highway 61 with country, folk, and blues blowing in the breeze. Damn Sure Blue’s opening line, “I’m not bitter, I’m just mad,” taps into the tide of discontent that many feel about the current state of American politics. Even a casual glance at daily headlines is enough to resonate with Kate’s reflective thoughts in “Change Should’ve Come By Now” and “Long Slow Train.” But she offers some hopeful words for this social malaise in her contemplative tune inspired by an Emily Dickinson poem, “This, and My Heart Beside.” “When You Come Back Home” speaks to love’s devotion amid the weariness of life’s journey and serves as a tender centerpiece for the record. “Sally Maxcy” tells a heart-rending tale of loss from an eighteenth-century letter shared with Kate by her friend Joanne Maxcy Martin.

  • Sugarcane Jane Bio Word Doc 2017
! Sugarcane Jane “Organic Music at its Finest” Sugarcane Jane, the Alabama Gulf Coast-based husband and wife duo has amassed an extremely loyal following. Anthony and Savana Lee Crawford purvey what they proudly call “Organic Music at its Finest.” Rich, homegrown, and natural, their brand of Americana draws from a deep well of roots influences, interwoven with inflections of gospel, country, jazz, and rock. Listeners can expect mostly acoustic sounds, and some of the freshest-sounding vocal harmonies they will ever hear. Both virtuosos in their own right, Anthony is a songwriter who plays acoustic guitar, fiddle, and a bass drum (which he plays while strumming his six-string) and Savana Lee deftly dances between rhythm guitar and snare drum. Multi-instrumentalist Anthony Crawford is known in most circles as a sideman to the stars. Over the course of the last 25 years, he has performed with Neil Young, Sonny James, Steve Winwood, Dwight Yoakam, Vince Gill, Rosanne Cash, and Rodney Crow- ell, and has written / co-written songs recorded by Steve Winwood, Dwight Yoakam, Kenny Rogers, Pegi Young, Lee Greenwood, and the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, to name a few. Yet, even with his history of working with heavyweights, Crawford feels Sugarcane Jane – his musical venture with multi-instrumentalist wife Savana Lee Crawford, is his life’s calling. Sugarcane Jane’s newest studio album, Ladders and Edges – an album they con- ceived with the legendary Colin Linden, Canadian musician, songwriter and record producer, musical director of Nashville, and member of the group Blackie and the Rodeo Kings. The album is being re- leased via Crawford's Admiral Bean Records on May 26, 2017.

  • A Conversation with Matthew Ryan by Frank Goodman (1/2007, Puremusic.Com) Dark, Stark, Brooding, Explosive. It's All That, With
A Conversation with Matthew Ryan by Frank Goodman (1/2007, Puremusic.com) Dark, stark, brooding, explosive. It's all that, with an abiding brilliance that delivers both the singer and the listener at least an avenue out and an entrance in to hematomic world of Matthew Ryan. Seven highly regarded records into the game, Ryan is on the map, but still searching for home. He's done major labels, smaller labels, self releases, and international licensing deals, and thoroughly gained the respect of the global press. Through the catalog, his writing is unabashedly poetic, ever fierce, and always a very recognizable voice. Sometimes called alternative country, his material frequently owes more to 80's Brit pop sonically, and his current missive, From A Late Night High Rise was largely birthed on one keyboard, before he handed over the storm of thick noisy tracks to Neilson Hubbard to sort and flesh out. This record took place after a collaboration with Hubbard and others called Strays Don't Sleep, and was written, more crucially, after his brother was sentenced to thirty years. On the phone, I found Matthew very warm, a fellow Philly guy who was surprisingly forthcoming. No walk in the park, to be sure, but a good man. Someone to get behind; nobody to cross, certainly no one to take lightly. After I digested the formidable From A Late Night High Rise, I revisited the midnight folk of Concussion and the masterful Hybrid release Regret Over The Wires, from a couple of years back. These are all passionate, important releases, and Strays Don't Sleep is a remarkable sounding collaboration between Ryan and Neilson Hubbard that includes Brian Bequette (Garrison Starr) on guitars, Billy Mercer (Ryan Adams) on bass and Steve Latanation (Agent Orange) on drums.
