Celebrity News: Dax Shepard Originally Turned Down ‘Parenthood’ for Kristen Bell By Megan McIntosh One of Dax Shepard’s most well-known roles may be that of his role on Parenthood, but according to UsMagazine.com, he almost gave up that opportunity for Kristen Bell. The celebrity couple would have needed to be in a long-distance relationship, but luckily the show was moved from Philadelphia to Los Angeles. Still, Shepard had been willing to make that sacrifice for their relationship and insists that it’s “not easy to work around another human being,” but that it’s worth it. In celebrity news, Dax Shepard almost made a huge sacrifice to be with wife Kristen Bell. What are some sacrifices you should make in the name of love? Cupid’s Advice: It’s not always easy knowing when you should give something up or compromise to make a relationship work. But there are some things that you should be willing to do for your relationship to work and to make a stronger commitment: 1. Time: It may seem like a simple thing but not everyone is willing to give up their time in a relationship. You have to make time for your partner and not let life’s little messes get in the way. It’s important that you there is always time for you and your partner to spend time together. But also be willing to give your partner some alone time as well. • Robert Lepage's Scenographic Dramaturgy: the Aesthetic Signature at Work
1 Robert Lepage’s Scenographic Dramaturgy: The Aesthetic Signature at Work Melissa Poll Abstract Heir to the écriture scénique introduced by theatre’s modern movement, director Robert Lepage’s scenography is his entry point when re-envisioning an extant text. Due to widespread interest in the Québécois auteur’s devised offerings, however, Lepage’s highly visual interpretations of canonical works remain largely neglected in current scholarship. My paper seeks to address this gap, theorizing Lepage’s approach as a three-pronged ‘scenographic dramaturgy’, composed of historical-spatial mapping, metamorphous space and kinetic bodies. By referencing a range of Lepage’s extant text productions and aligning elements of his work to historical and contemporary models of scenography-driven performance, this project will detail how the three components of Lepage’s scenographic dramaturgy ‘write’ meaning-making performance texts. Historical-Spatial Mapping as the foundation for Lepage’s Scenographic Dramaturgy In itself, Lepage’s reliance on evocative scenography is inline with the aesthetics of various theatre-makers. Examples range from Appia and Craig’s early experiments summoning atmosphere through lighting and minimalist sets to Penny Woolcock’s English National Opera production of John Adams’s Dr. Atomic1 which uses digital projections and film clips to revisit the circumstances leading up to Little Boy’s release on Hiroshima in 1945. Other artists known for a signature visual approach to locating narrative include Simon McBurney, who incorporates digital projections to present Moscow via a Google Maps perspective in Complicité’s The Master and Margarita and auteur Benedict Andrews, whose recent production of Three Sisters sees Chekhov’s heroines stranded on a mound of dirt at the play’s conclusion, an apt metaphor for their dreary futures in provincial Russia.

SUPREME COURT OF THE UNITED STATES Syllabus PLANNED PARENTHOOD OF SOUTHEASTERN PENNSYLVANIA et al. v. CASEY, GOVERNOR OF PENNSYLVANIA, et al. CERTIORARI TO THE UNITED STATES COURT OF APPEALS FOR THE THIRD CIRCUIT No. 91-744. Argued April 22, 1992 -- Decided June 29, 1992 At issue are five provisions of the Pennsylvania Abortion Control Act of 1982: § 3205, which requires that a woman seeking an abortion give her informed consent prior to the procedure, and specifies that she be provided with certain information at least 24 hours before the abortion is performed; § 3206, which mandates the informed consent of one parent for a minor to obtain an abortion, but provides a judicial bypass procedure; § 3209, which commands that, unless certain exceptions apply, a married woman seeking an abortion must sign a statement indicating that she has notified her husband; § 3203, which defines a "medical emergency" that will excuse compliance with the foregoing requirements; and §§ 3207(b), 3214(a), and 3214(f), which impose certain reporting requirements on facilities providing abortion services. Before any of the provisions took effect, the petitioners, five abortion clinics and a physician representing himself and a class of doctors who provide abortion services, brought this suit seeking a declaratory judgment that each of the provisions was unconstitutional on its face, as well as injunctive relief. The District Court held all the provisions unconstitutional and permanently enjoined their enforcement. The Court of Appeals affirmed in part and reversed in part, striking down the husband notification provision but upholding the others. Held: The judgment in No. 91-902 is affirmed; the judgment in No.

  • Public Overwhelmingly Supports Planned Parenthood
Public Overwhelmingly Supports Planned Parenthood In the months since the latest attacks on Planned Parenthood launched, national polls have found broad deep support for the organization and its ability to provide health care services to millions of people – and the public has mobilized on behalf of Planned Parenthood. The public is largely aware of accusations about Planned Parenthood – and is not persuaded by them. Thirteen separate nationwide polls show strong favorability for Planned Parenthood and strong opposition to efforts in Congress to defund the organization, which would prevent low-income women from receiving health care at Planned Parenthood. These polls stem from the deep and longstanding relationship that many Americans have with Planned Parenthood, which is the nation’s leading provider of reproductive health care and sex education. For 99 years, women, men, and young people have relied on Planned Parenthood for birth control, lifesaving cancer screenings, safe abortion, and other high-quality health care. One in five women American women reports having been to Planned Parenthood for care in her lifetime. All thirteen national polls conducted in the wake of these attacks show strong support for Planned Parenthood and extraordinarily strong opposition to shutting down the government over Planned Parenthood federal funding. • A new poll from Associated Press-GfK found that 69% of those surveyed do not support forcing a government shutdown to block Planned Parenthood’s funding, and less than half of Republicans would entertain this idea. • A New York Times/CBS News Poll taken in the middle of the 2015 defund fight found that most Americans think Planned Parenthood should continue to receive government funding.
