Welcome to The Bear Creek School’s 27th annual auction. For more than a quarter century, the auction has helped move the school forward, providing critical resources for the people, buildings, and programs that make Bear Creek such an extraordinary place.
Donations to the Fund-A-Need tonight will be dedicated to the music, visual arts, and physical education programs at Bear Creek. A classical liberal arts education encompasses music, the arts, and physical well-being as integral pillars of a student’s development, alongside the more traditional academic disciplines. Your gift will help purchase new musical instruments for all divisions, upgrade the audio visual systems in the band and choir classrooms of both the Main and Upper School, provide technology tools to support and enhance our visual arts curriculum, and replace aging Physical Education and gym equipment, including new bleachers.

25 Cocktail Class with Cocktail Crafter for Six This special, in-your-home class, will give you and up to five friends hands-on experience making and mixing creative cocktail ingredients from scratch. Joshua Hadder is a 20-year bar veteran who has bartended on both the East and West Coasts. The evening will begin with a cocktail and some history of cocktails. He’ll demonstrate and teach the tools and techniques you need to create handcrafted cocktails, and share some fun knowledge along the way. 27 Waldfondue at the Familie Braukus Haus Come and experience a Swiss fondue in a beautiful outdoor setting at the Braukus House co-hosted by the Clarks! Twelve lucky cheese lovers (adults and children welcome) will be greeted by Alpine music and appetizers. The festivities will then turn to the cheese melting over a firepit. Everyone will don super-efficient Swiss aprons with pockets to hold their bread for dunking. AUCTION RULES
Registration Each guest or couple must check in at the Registration area to receive a packet containing their bid cards and table assignment.
General Rules By bidding in the live or silent auction each bidder agrees to these auction rules.
Auction items will be awarded to one purchaser only and bids will not be split among bidders who may have agreed to pay a portion of the top bid amount. The single purchaser is responsible for payment in full at the Bank on the evening of the auction. The purchaser is solely responsible for collecting individual payments from other bidder(s) who enter into an agreement. Checks, debit cards, American Express, MasterCard, Visa, and exact change in cash will be accepted.
The purchaser assumes the responsibility to locate and remove his/her purchases from the auction venue at the close of the evening. All items are sold “as is”. All services must be claimed or used within one year of the date of the auction unless clearly specified otherwise. All purchases are final and there will be no exchanges or refunds on items unless otherwise noted. Travel packages, unless clearly noted otherwise, do not include airfare.
The Bear Creek School neither warrants nor represents and in no event is responsible for the accuracy of descriptions or condition of items, genuineness, authorship, or provenance. No statement made in this catalog or made orally at the auction or elsewhere shall be deemed such a warranty for tax purposes or fair market value. Items have not been appraised unless otherwise noted. The purchaser must pay any transfer fees, licenses, and taxes. The Auction Office reserves the right to withdraw any item.
Each bidder agrees to hold harmless from any liability arising there from The Bear Creek School, its elected and appointed officials, members, and employees, the auctioneer, the auction company and its agents and employees, the event organizers, sponsors, and/or volunteers connected with the auction.
Payment - ExpressPay To avoid lines at the Bank area after the auction, you may swipe a credit card and sign up for convenient ExpressPay in the Registration area until 6:45 p.m. This “opens your tab” for the duration of the event. During the Live Auction, an invoice of your Silent Auction purchases will be delivered to your dining table. At the end of the evening, you may pick up any tangible items and gift certificates you purchased without
stopping at the Bank. A full statement, marked “paid” for tax purposes, including any Live Auction purchases, will be mailed to you within ten days of the auction.
Payment at the Bank At the end of the auction, if you did not sign up for ExpressPay at Registration, you must settle your account in the Bank area. A cashier will process your receipt and you may pay with a check, debit card, American Express, MasterCard, Visa or exact change in cash.
Payment – Matching Gifts The Bear Creek School is a 501(c) 3 charitable organization and your payments are tax-deductible as a charitable contribution, only to the extent provided by law. If your employer matches charitable contributions, your cash donations to the auction or Fund-A-Need, and the portion you pay over the fair market value of items purchased qualify to be matched.
Silent Auction All Silent Auction items have paper bid sheets. The opening bid and the subsequent minimum raises are predetermined and preprinted on the bid sheets. To bid on any item, simply write your bid number next to one of the predetermined bid amounts in the space provided. Please write legibly. Only bid numbers, not names, are considered valid bids. You may skip lines and put your number next to any higher amount that you wish. The first person to place their bid number in the “Guaranteed Purchase Price" box owns the item. Each Silent Section will close at the approximate time listed in the catalog and on event signage. The auctioneer will announce the final closing times. A Silent Auction official will certify the winning bid at the closing by circling the amount. You can see if you are the successful purchaser by looking at the yellow copy of the silent auction bid form that is left on the table after the section is closed.
Live Auction Live Auction items may be previewed from 5:00 p.m. on. Please note any restrictions, limitations, and sizes carefully. To bid in the Live Auction, you must have purchased a ticket, have an assigned bid number, and hold your bid card up high with the number toward the auctioneer. A bid acknowledged by the live auctioneer is a legal contract to purchase the item. The Auctioneer reserves the right to reject any bid that is merely a fractional advance over the prior bid.
