Hence, finding/re-creating adequate water supply and fully utilizing wastewater become important issues in sustainable urban development and environmental benign aspect. Considering Hong KongÕs situation, e.g., lack of natural fresh water, domination of municipal wastewater, etc., developing wastewater reclamation and reuse system is of specific significance to exploit new water resource and save natural fresh water supplied from Mainland China. We propose and have carried out some preliminary studies on the potential of categorizing municipal wastewater, devel- oping grey and storm water recycling system in public housing estate, investigating the feasibility and potential of using reclaimed grey water, etc. Since there is very limited experience in grey water recycling, such initial studies can help to understand and increase knowledge in utilizing grey water, to foresee the feasibility of developing new water resource, to estimate the cost-effectiveness of reclaiming grey water in metropolitan city. 立法會 Legislative Council LC Paper No. CB(4)1072/17-18(04) Ref. : CB4/PL/TP Panel on Transport Meeting on 18 May 2018 Background brief on the operational arrangements for the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge and the Hong Kong Port Purpose This paper provides background information on the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge ("HZMB") project and related Hong Kong projects. It also summarizes the major views and concerns expressed by Legislative Council ("LegCo") Members on the traffic and transport arrangements and related operational issues of HZMB upon its commissioning in past discussions. Background Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge and related Hong Kong projects 2. HZMB is a dual three-lane carriageway in the form of bridge-cum-tunnel structure sea-crossing, linking Hong Kong, Zhuhai and Macao. The project is a major cross-boundary transport infrastructure project. According to the Administration, the construction of HZMB will significantly reduce transportation costs and time for travellers and goods on roads. It has very important strategic value in terms of further enhancement of the economic development between Hong Kong, the Mainland and Macao. 3. With the connection by HZMB, the Western Pearl River Delta will fall within a reachable three-hour commuting radius of Hong Kong. The entire HZMB project consists of two parts: - 2 - (a) the HZMB Main Bridge (i.e. a 22.9 km-long bridge and 6.7 km-long subsea tunnel) situated in Mainland waters which is being taken forward by the HZMB Authority1; and (b) the link roads and boundary crossing facilities under the responsibility of the governments of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao ("the three governments"). -

PRESS RELEASE 新聞稿 Date: 31 May 2021 Total page: 1 New Round of “Spend-to-Redeem Free Tours” Open for Registration Tomorrow The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) is rolling out a new round of the “Spend-to-Redeem Free Tours” programme, with registration opening tomorrow (1 June). About 190 itineraries, designed by various local tour operators, are available in the new round, which will be uploaded to the HKTB’s programme website in two batches. Starting from tomorrow, members of the public can choose from the first batch of about 130 itineraries and register directly with the tour operators. The first batch of itineraries uploaded cover a wide range of themes and experiences, including the Scenic Harbour, Lively Culture, Gastro-Fantasies, Endless Entertainment, Neighbourhoods and Family Fun. On top of local attractions, the itineraries include workshops related to gourmet food and handicrafts, fishing and farming activities, as well as pet-friendly experience. Half-day tours include at least two points of interests and one meal, many of which offer a hotel buffet, seafood tasting on an outlying island, or other delicacies (see appendix). Members of the public can register for a local tour with machine-printed receipt(s) after spending HK$800 or more at local retail and dining outlets. Registered participants are required to submit the receipt(s) to the tour operator and pay a deposit of HK$100 per person (to be returned on the day of the tour). To meet the government’s latest anti-pandemic requirements, all participating tour operators are required to sign the Anti-epidemic Undertakings for Local Tours. -

Winter Season (December - March) is the most relaxing and comfortable time to go to Hong Kong but besides the weather, there's little else to do since the "Sale Season" occurs during Summer. There are some sales during Christmas & Chinese New Year but 90% of the clothes are for winter. Hong Kong can get very foggy during winter, as such, visit to the Peak is a hit-or-miss affair. A foggy bird's eye view of HK isn't really nice. Summer Season (May - October) is similar to Manila's weather, very hot but moving around in Hong Kong can get extra uncomfortable because of the high humidity which gives the "sticky" feeling. Hong Kong's rainy season also falls on their summer, July & August has the highest rainfall count and the typhoons also arrive in these months. The Sale / Shopping Festival is from the start of July to the start of September. If the sky is clear, the view from the Peak is great. Avoid going to Hong Kong when there are large-scale exhibitions or ongoing tournaments like the Hong Kong Sevens Rugby Tournament because hotel prices will be significantly higher. For discussion on Task Force on Land Supply 5 December 2017 Paper No. 12/2017 TASK FORCE ON LAND SUPPLY Reclaiming the Reservoirs PURPOSE Some members of the public suggested releasing and reclaiming reservoirs for large-scale housing development. This paper provides Members with the background information about the water supply in Hong Kong, and the potential challenges in taking forward this suggestion (“the suggestion”). BACKGROUND Water Supply in Hong Kong 2. Hong Kong does not have large rivers or lakes. Its annual rainfall averages around 2 400 mm and takes place mainly in the summer months. Coupled with Hong Kong’s hilly terrain, collection of rain water for potable uses has always been a challenge in the water supply history of Hong Kong. Catchwaters and reservoirs are constructed to deal with the uneven distribution of rainfall. With the continuous urbanization and economic development, the Government has been adopting a multi-barrier approach to control the risk of pollution of our valuable water resources. This includes designating about 30% of the territories as water gathering grounds within which developments are under strict control and adopting advanced water treatment technology before distributing the treated water for consumption by the citizen. 3. Since the first reservoir system was built in 1863, Hong Kong now has a total of 17 reservoirs1 (Figure 1) which altogether have a storage capacity of 586 million cubic metres (MCM) collecting on average an annual yield of around 246 MCM. Among these reservoirs, the High Island Reservoir (HIR) and the Plover Cove Reservoir (PCR) with storage capacity of 281 MCM and 230 MCM respectively are the two largest reservoirs, accounting for 87% of the total storage capacity. -

LCQ1: Development of heritage tourism ******************************** Following is a question by the Hon Yiu Si-wing and a reply by the Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Edward Yau, in the Legislative Council today (May 5): Question: In December last year, the Government abruptly halted the demolition works for the service reservoir at Bishop Hill in Sham Shui Po (the service reservoir), enabling this century-old structure to survive. In March this year, the Antiquities Advisory Board endorsed the recommended grading (i.e. Grade 1 historic building) for the service reservoir. The Government is exploring a restricted opening of the service reservoir for visit by the public upon the completion of the temporary strengthening and tidying up works for the service reservoir. Some members of the public have suggested that the Government may, by making reference to overseas examples, invite experts to discuss the options for revitalising the service reservoir, as well as consider developing the service reservoir into a tourist attraction in Asia. Regarding the development of heritage tourism, will the Government inform this Council: (1) whether it has drawn up a series of conservation and revitalisation programmes for the service reservoir to promote heritage tourism; if so, of the details (including an implementation timetable); if not, the reasons for that; (2) whether it will include the service reservoir as one of the tourist attractions under the "Hong Kong Neighbourhoods – Sham Shui Po" campaign implemented by the Hong
