Documents, discoveries, events, personalities”, dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the announcement of Troyan as a town, in just a few months became a significant event in our academic life. The materials published in it have attracted the attention of both academic and wider readers, not only at the regional level, but also in the country. And it is far a coincidence. For decades the history of Troyan and Troyan region has focused the interest of historians, archaeologists, onomastics, folklorists1. However, the past of this region has not yet found its definitive outlines in the specialized and regional literature. The valuable studies published in the anniversary and thematic collections dedicated to Troyan2, as well as the targeted archaeological and field studies3 of Iv. Zahariev, G. Kitov, M. Tsacheva, M. Balbolova-Ivanova, Iv. Hristov [Balbolova-Ivanova, M. 1988, pp. 21–29; Zahariev, I. 1978, p. 42; Tsacheva, M. 1992, pp. 34–45, etc.] fill in many of the gaps, but also many debatable questions remain unclear.
