HELP University and HELP Academy Scholarships and Bursaries 2018 Since its establishment in 1986, HELP has awarded many scholarships to encourage Malaysians and international students who demonstrate academic excellence and display leadership qualities to pursue their tertiary education at the university. Many of these recipients have completed their courses and have embarked on successful careers. HELP welcomes both new and continuing students of merit to apply for scholarships and study awards. Full Scholarships, Partial Scholarships and Study Awards If you meet the minimum criteria, you are required to do the following: 1. Complete a HELP Scholarship Application Form and attach certified copies of your academic results. 2. New students are required to submit a HELP Application Form to apply for the chosen programme and pay the Student Application Fee before submitting the scholarship application form. 3. New students will submit the respective forms and attachments to the Scholarship Officer in the Registry before the specified deadline. Late applications will not be considered for selection. 4. For consideration by the Scholarship Committee in May and October of each year, scholarship applicants must be registered students of HELP University or HELP Academy. Your form will be forwarded to the Scholarship Committee for consideration when the Committee meets, which is in May and October. 5. The decisions of the Scholarship Committee will be announced by the third week of May and October and the decisions are not subject to appeal. Important note: 1. As scholarship awards are limited and competitive, only candidates who meet the minimum criteria specified in this brochure are eligible to apply. 2. Meeting the minimum criteria does not automatically guarantee the applicant a scholarship. 3. All scholarship applicants will be evaluated and short-listed by the Scholarship Committee of HELP University/ HELP Academy. The Scholarship Committee reserves the right to revise the criteria from time to time without prior notice. The decision of the Scholarship Committee is final. 4. Students are only entitled to one scholarship at any one time. (Scholarships also cover prizes, study awards, bursaries and fee waivers.) 5. Applicants may be awarded a sum that is less than that stipulated in the brochure. 6. All scholarships are awarded on a first come, first served basis. 7. Scholarships may differ from intake to intake. Students are advised to submit their application before the stipulated deadline. 8. HELP-University of Queensland Scholarships (External Scholarships) Students studying for the Bachelor of Business programme in the Department of Business Studies are invited to apply for final year study at the Faculty of Business, Economics and Law, University of Queensland in February / July 2018. Value of Scholarship The scholarship value is at the discretion of HELP University. The scholarship will be disbursed via a waiver of tuition fees charged by the University of Queensland (UQ) as and when these fees become due. Selection Criteria The selection of scholars will be based on the following criteria: 1. Students must have a minimum academic achievement of CGPA 3.6 over 16 or 17 specified subjects in the Bachelor of Business (Hons) programme. * Students must have an unconditional offer for the final year of the Bachelor of Commerce, or Bachelor of Business Management at UQ. At the point of application for the Scholarship, students must be enrolled in the Bachelor of Business (Hons) programme at HELP University. 2. The financial background of the applicant may be taken into consideration. 3. Applicants must possess motivation in setting goals and perseverance in pursuing their set goals. 4. Applicants must possess leadership and motivation as demonstrated by contribution to the community and to HELP University. 5. The successful applicant must be willing and committed to participate in activities that foster cross-cultural awareness within UQ and the local community. Applicants must be able to substantiate these criteria in the Scholarship Application Form. Applicants must ensure that they have sufficient funds to cover their travel, accommodation and living expenses. Successful applicants will undertake the final year of their UQ degree for the 2018/2019 academic year at the St Lucia campus. 4 HELP MATRICULATION CENTRE Distinction Award (for new students) Programme of Study: Foundation in Arts / Foundation in Science Qualification Partial Scholarship (up to) RM13,000 RM10,000 RM8,000 RM6,000 SPM / O-Levels 9 A+ and 9 As 8 As and 9 A- 7 As 5 As - 6 As Note: 1. A- will be considered except for 9 A+ and 9 As category. 2. Only applicable for those who have completed SPM in November 2017. 3. Only one A- or A or A+ in either SPM English or EST English will be taken into account for scholarship consideration. 4. O-Levels A* results from May/June 2017, November 2017 and January 2018 will be equated to 1.5 As in the SPM. 5. Those who have completed SPM prior to November 2017 or O-Levels prior to May / June 2017 will be considered on a case by case basis. 6. These scholarship criteria are only applicable for students joining the January, April and May 2018 intakes. 7. For those joining September 2018, the scholarship will only be awarded on a case by case basis based on the availability of funds. * Please note that this scholarship award may not be combined with any other awards and promotional offers offered by HELP University.
