WCA Executive Investment Summit & CEO Forum 2016 | March 14-16 MONDAY MARCH 14: PRE-SUMMIT Family Office & CEO Dinner (in partnership with Family Office Council, YPO Africa, and InvestAfrica) KEITH JOHNSTON - Chairperson Chief Executive Officer Family Office Council The Family Office Council (FOC), headquartered in the United Kingdom, is a membership group of Single Family Offices and private Multi Family Offices. The purpose of the Family Office Council is: to create a community for Family Office Executives to meet their needs; to improve the services provided to Family Offices and UHNW individuals internationally by providing a forum for communication of best practices amongst Family Offices; improve public understanding of Family Offices and create a better environment for Family Offices. Prior to FOC, Keith worked as Director of Communications at the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) where he was Editor of the STEP Journal and Editor-in-Chief of STEP’s publications. Keith has been active in community management, communications and public policy in the wealth sector for the past ten years, and was intimately involved in campaigns over the taxation of UK non doms and defending the reputation of the wealth sector internationally. He started in 1997 as a lobbyist at a public affairs consultancy and is a graduate of the University of Glasgow. Keith is a member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) and a fellow of the Public Relations Consultancy Association (PRCA). ROB HERSOV Chairman & Founder InvestAfrica Rob is a South African entrepreneur, senior executive and private investor based in London. He currently serves as Chairman and CEO (and founder) of Invest Africa, Chairman and Partner (and founder) of African Capital Investments, Chairman of the VistaJet Advisory Board, and Chairman (and founder) of Adoreum Partners. Hersov’s grandfather, Bob Hersov, founded AngloVaal, one of Southern Africa’s largest mining and industrial companies, which his father, Basil Hersov, ran from 1973 to 2001. Rob has been focused on investing in Africa, a continent close to his heart given his upbringing and family ties. He was the founder of Invest Africa and has been a driving force behind Sapinda Group’s direct investments in sub-Saharan Africa. He has also made a number of personal investments on the continent and has close relationships with businesses across different African regions. AKINWOLE OMOBORIOWO II Vice Chairman & CEO Genesis Energy Group Akinwole Omoboriowo II (AOII) has over 20 years of experience in the Oil & Gas and Power Sectors in Africa, where he has consistently led other equally distinguished colleagues in pioneering several initiatives including but not limited to Independent Power Producing companies, well-Structured Oil Companies (Oil Trading and Exploration), thriving Utility Companies, amongst others. AOII’s top management work profile includes being the Chairman and CEO of Genesis Electricity Limited, the Vice-Chairman and CEO of Genesis Energy Group, Chairman Board of Directors GEL Utility (co-sponsored by General Electric and Engro Corp), Member-Advisory Board of The Global Thinkers Forum (GTF), he served as Chairman of Bissau Electricidade de Agua (Guinea Bissau), and Founding Managing Director of Besse-Oil & Services. He has been named amongst the much esteemed list of “Most Influential Figures in African Power” for 2014 and 2015. AOII is a Fellow of the Institute of Management Consultants (IMC) and invested with Honoris Causa Fellowship of the Certified Board of Administrators of Nigeria (CBAN). AOII is a 1993 graduate in Economics from University of Jos, alumnus of the London Business School, from where he acquired specialist training in Electricity Pricing & Modelling course in 2006, and has a 2011 Post-Graduate Diploma in Strategy & Innovation from the prestigious Oxford University's SAID Business School, U.K. 1 WCA Executive Investment Summit & CEO Forum 2016 | March 14-16 TUESDAY MARCH 15: SUMMIT DAY ONE Keynote Roundtable: Ethiopia Ministerial and Private Sector Leaders on optimising investment returns in 2016 (chaired by Knowledge@Wharton) H.E. AHMED SHIDE State Minister of Finance and Economic Development Federal Republic of Ethiopia His Excellency Mr. Ahmed Shide Mohamed serves as the State Minister of Finance and Economic Development of Ethiopia. The Ministry, besides allocating budget, introduces new and efficient ways of utilizing resources to both federal and regional governments. A “Pool Service”, is one of the ministry’s innovations. The Ministry has recently introduced Financial Administration Proclamation and Procurement and property Administration Proclamation Amendment drafts. The amendment proclamations enables the country to close the gaps that might be observed in the finance, procurement and property management of the nation and to create internationally accepted financial working systems. H.E. BERHANU KEBEDE Ambassador Federal Republic of Ethiopia H.E. Berhanu has had a long career in diplomacy. In 1983 he transferred to the Diplomatic Mission in Brussels as an economist where he represented Ethiopia in financial, technical and industrial committees. He participated in negotiations leading to the Lome II and III conventions – international aid and trade agreements between the African, Caribean and Pacific (ACP) Countries group and the European Union (EU).In 1992 he returned to Addis Ababa to take up the position of Head of the Western European Division as Counselor. Later that year he was promoted to Director General, and it was in this role chaired the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) meeting of the African Economic Community, all UN General Assembly sessions as deputy leader of the Ethiopia delegation, and the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) Council. On 7 th December 2000, he was appointed Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to the Russian Federation, with the rank of Ambassador. In February 2002, he was appointed Ambassador of Ethiopia to Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland and Iceland, before his appointment as Ambassador to the United Kingdom in March 2006. He has participated in various national committees, such as the EU/Ethiopia Relations Ministerial Conference, the National Committee on the World Trade Organisation Membership of Ethiopia and the Committee Established to Study the Impact of the Free Trade Area Under COMESA on the Ethiopian Economy. H.E. Berhanu speaks Amharic, English and French. He studied at Addis Ababa University and graduated from the Department of Economics in Planning and Project Analysis, and has a Masters of Economics in Management and Finance, from the University of Brussels. TEWOLDE GEBREMARIAM Chief Executive Officer Ethiopian Airlines Tewolde GebreMariam was appointed Group Chief Executive Officer, the position that he is currently holding, of Ethiopian on January 2011. He began his career with Ethiopian in 1985 as Transportation Agent and has held a number of senior leadership positions in a number of divisions in the Airline including; Ethiopian Cargo, Area Offices and Sales and Marketing. On July 2006, Mr. Tewolde was also appointed as Chief Operating Officer to head all the operating divisions of the airline. In July 2013, he became the first CEO of an African airline to receive “ The Airline Strategy Award for Regional Leadership” in the award’s 12 year history. The award is given out annually by Airline Business Magazine , a publication of Flight Global , a leading media brand in the aviation world. Mr. Tewolde graduated from Addis Ababa University with a B.A. Degree in Economics. He earned his Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the Open University in the United Kingdom. 2 WCA Executive Investment Summit & CEO Forum 2016 | March 14-16 ADMASSU TADESSE Chief Executive Officer & President PTA Bank Mr. Admassu Tadesse, is the Bank's 4th President and CEO. An economist and banker, Mr. Tadesse qualified at the london School of Economics and Political Science (M.Sc), Wits Business School (MBA) and the University of Western Ontario (BA), and trained in advanced management and strategic banking at Harvard Business School and INSEAD. Prior to his appointment, Mr. Tadesse served at the Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA) for 10 years where he was a top executive responsibile for international finance, investments and corporate strategy. Much earlier, he served in various management and technical roles with international funds a nd specialized agencies of the United Nations. He has served on the boards of banks, funds and industry bodies in Africa and internationally, and has worked, trained and lived in some 10 countries in Africa, Europe and North America for over 30 years. He was born in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. JEMALAHMED Chief Executive Officer Saudi Star (MIDROC Investment Group) MIDROC Ethiopia is a private investment company with about 70 group and affiliate companies that are engaged in multifaceted business sectors across the country. MIDROC Ethiopia Investment Group is a member of the MIDROC Group Companies owned by the prominent global businessman, Sheikh Mohammed Hussein Ali Al- Amoudi. These Group Companies are operating in Africa, Europe, the Middle East, and the United States of America. Each of the MIDROC Ethiopia Group Companies is legally established and autonomous. 24 of these companies are organized under the MIDROC Ethiopia Technology Group . Saudi Star was established to undertake a gigantic agricultural project
