kindly invites you to the conference

Energy from Waste

Advancements in Biogas Production

November 13-14, 2013

Ystad Saltsjöbad

Purpose

The conference organised by Swedish-Polish Sustainable Energy Platform in Warsaw in

November 2011 attracted a lot of interest from Polish stakeholders towards the Swedish model of biogas production from waste and resulted in a number of feasibility studies in Poland. The purpose of this conference is to build upon the previous experience and to provide the opportunity of knowledge and technology exchange for Polish and Swedish stakeholders. The conference welcomes you to:

Meet experts from different fields involved in the success of the Swedish biogas industry Familiarize with pioneering technologies in the organic waste management

Gain knowledge on how to achieve a profitable biogas industry

Get the business contacts you need to take the next steps

Target audience

Decision-makers on national, regional and local levels as well as consultants, academia and technology providers from both Poland and .

Biogas from waste – a win-win-win-win concept

Organic waste can be turned into a profitable renewable energy opportunity! Household and industrial waste, manure, sludge from waste water treatment – all these and other organic waste fractions are valuable energy resources. In this way four problems are addressed at the same time:

1. A waste problem, accentuated by the upcoming EU waste directive prohibiting organic waste to be landfilled.

2. A climate change problem, caused by the use of fossil fuels for energy production and vehicle operation.

3. The bio fertilizer that is a bi-product of biogas production will reduce dependency on fossil fuel based fertilizers.

4. Dependency on fossil fuels import will be reduced by locally produced energy, thus increasing energy security. Biogas can be used for electricity and heat generation. It can also be upgraded to high- functionality transportation fuel, as well as distributed in the regular gas grid.
