The document is the fourth in a series of reports produced on an annua! basis when all available data for the year has been archived. The principal purpose of the report is to increase the awareness of the hydrometry within the South West Region through listing the current and historic hydrometric networks, key hydrometric staff contacts, what data is available and the reporting options available to users. This programme is integrated with the effluent discharge compliance assessment programme, Samples are taken not only of a significant discharge but also of the receiving water immediately upstream of the discharge and at the edge of the mixing zone downstream of the discharge. The 1992 programme has several purposes, such as: - identifying any impact by the discharge on the receiving waters. - characterising upstream water quality. - providing a database against which change can be measured. -
