Live | Study @ IPT We are the Médio Tejo, “a region to discover”. The geodesic centre tells us that we are in the middle of Portugal... a place of many virtues. The Médio Tejo region comprises the municipalities of Abrantes, Alcanena, Constância, Entroncamento, Ferreira do Zêzere, Mação, Ourém, Sardoal, Sertã, Tomar, Torres Novas, Vila de Rei and Vila Nova da Barquinha. Each municipality has a distinctive character that allows for unique experiences imbued with a very rich historical, cultural, heritage and environmental legacy. The Almonda, the Alviela, the Nabão, the Tejo and the Zêzere rivers run along our shores and most of the territory is bathed by a blue, magnificent and limpid lake. It is the Castelo do Bode reservoir which calls for nautical, leisure and social experiences. Then, further north and full of potential, is the interior pine forest with its crystalline streams, agricultural fields and green landscapes. This is a region of know-how, tradition and flavours. From convent delicacies to Mediterranean food and contemporary gastronomy where there is no shortage of produce from our land. We are a region that excel in the production of olive oil, wine, chorizos, convent confectionery and other gastro- nomic products where we are invited to sit down and simply taste and enjoy.

Live | Study @ IPT Then, wrapped in mystery, full of stories to be revealed and kept well-guarded by the walls and towers, are the six castles of the region that leave no one indiffe- rent - Almourol, Abrantes, Ourém, Tomar, Torres Novas and Sertã. Here cultural activities are frequent from medieval fairs, dances and traditional parades and stories and traditions are exalted and preserved for the sake of the past. The Convento de Cristo - a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the important Templar legacy left in Tomar, Almourol (municipality of Vila Nova da Barquinha) and Dornes (municipality of Ferreira do Zêzere) are subliminal resources in the Médio Tejo, whose diversity characterises this region located at a stone’s throw from Lisbon and Oporto. The Médio Tejo has all this and much more! It has its people, firm and persistent, investing in a region that is still to be discovered, that wants to affirm itself for what it is and for what it has conquered and that wants to be lived and experienced.
