2017 Membership Directory 2017 Membership Directory NTGCSA President’S Message - Michael Epps 2017 Membership Directory 2017 Membership Directory NTGCSA President’s Message - Michael Epps In this directory is a list of the men and women that make the NTGCSA one of the best superintendent associations in the country. I am honored to be on the 2017 board of directors for NTGCSA and serve as your president. We have a great team that serves as on the board of di- rectors and chapter executive that are here to help you. I would also like President’sto Message say thank you to our vendors, our association could not function without you and your support. At the beginning of the year I challenged each of you to “Engage” in your NTGCSA. Sign up your assistants, equipment managers and come out to the meetings. Sign up to host and event and also put some serious thought in about helping to serve on the board or its committees, remember it’s your association help make its better. One of the great things this year is you are engaging as we are seeing more members come out to more meetings. The next time you are about to sign up for a meeting call a buddy and tell him or her, to get off his or her “can” and go to the meeting with you. Please remember to engage in your North Texas Golf Course Association. North Texas has a very long and strong history and tradition in the game of golf. There are many great legions of the game and godfathers of turf that have given great roots to our profession here in North Texas. I have been very fortunate to have been part of the NTGCSA family for almost 15 years now am honored to know gentlemen like Gary Bearden, Stephen Best, Quinton Johnson, Stan Wreyford, Mike Plummer and Ken Small. These gentlemen have inspired, counseled and helped me to be a better su- perintendent and are great examples of what NTGCSA is made of. These gentlemen and many more individuals listed in this directory have shaped and are shaping the future of our industry and our chap- ter. Use this directory as great resource of your fellow superintendents and vendors to help with the challenges of our profession and for the great fellowship they can provide. We are very lucky to have some great members who serve on the NTGCSA board of directors. These gentlemen donate their time to help us guide our association and if you get a chance tell them thanks the next time you see one. Thank you for the honor of serving as your president and as my old boss Charles Joachim would say “Keep it Green side UP”. • Tripp Davis and Associates Restores the Northwood Club — Davis Transforms Diddel Classic in Dallas —
Tripp Davis and Associates Restores The Northwood Club — Davis Transforms Diddel Classic in Dallas — Norman, OK (May 21, 2018) — Golf course architecture firm Tripp Davis and Associates (TDA) is celebrating the completed course renovation at the Northwood Club in Dallas, Texas. One of the area’s revered private golf clubs, The Northwood Club embarked on an 18-month major renovation of its historic 1946 course originally designed by Bill Diddel and unveiled a refreshing new look to its membership on April 13, 2018. “Tripp and his team have contributed to bringing Northwood Club’s history of U.S. Open golf back to life, blending our rich history with modern concepts for tomorrow,” said Kevin Carpenter, Northwood Club Golf Course Superintendent. “Tripp’s understanding of the game as a player is apparent in his design detail, yet he’s considerate to the maintenance needs of the final product. It's been an honor to work with Tripp and his skillful team as they rise to the top of today's best course designers and restoration specialists." TDA started construction with a master plan renovation of the 18-hole layout in 2016 and completed the restoration of the 175-acre property, including creating a short course in Fall 2017. TDA and builder Landscapes Unlimited restored all tees, greens and bunkers and reshaped most fairways, along with providing new cart paths, drainage and a new irrigation system. TDA introduced NorthBridge, a new Bermudagrass, which is used over the entire course with the exception of the Bentgrass greens. In addition, creeks on the property were restored and a new irrigation lake was built to help the club recapture more water.
