Dottie is about 12 years old, and in spite of that she’s doing very well, she’s spry and everything. “She does have a little bit of a hip problem and it’s because of her age and she’s a little overweight,” said Sgt Matthews. They think she has a little arthritis, so she’s on medica- tion for it. But she is pretty spry otherwise; she goes up and down the hallways and she likes to go for her walks over to CE. She knows where to go in CE because everyone has cookies for her so she makes her rounds through all the offices to get her cookies.” Dottie has kept this cus- tom alive. Refeuling at Alert. The main component of BOXTOP 08 was located at Thule Air Base in Greenland, with a detachment located at CFS Alert. 1 Cdn Air Div Air Mobility resources (3 x CC130 Hercules) plus Civilian Charter Company (1 x L100 Hercules) flew approximately 470 flying hours to deliver 233 passengers, 738,000 lbs of freight and more than 1.3 million litres of fuel to Alert. The freight was shipped by sea to Thule, and then to be airlifted into Alert via C-130. This ensures that Alert has enough fuel and dry goods to survive through the winter.
