New Clearways on the Cumberland Highway – Constitution Hill to Liverpool, from Monday 12 December November 2016 New clearways on the Cumberland Highway – Constitution Hill to Liverpool, from Monday 12 December The NSW Government is acting to reduce congestion and delays by introducing new clearways on Sydney’s roads. Roads and Maritime Services is installing new clearways on the Cumberland Highway between Old Windsor Road, Constitution Hill and the Hume Highway, Liverpool. We have included a map to help explain where the new clearways will be implemented. Supplementing the existing No Stopping/No Parking restrictions with clearways will help to improve traffic flow and reduce delays by allowing us to tow vehicles that stop illegally or breakdown. This will ensure all lanes are available to traffic when the road is near capacity. The new clearway hours will operate in both directions from: 6am to 7pm on weekdays 8am to 8pm on weekends. The existing No Stopping and No Parking restrictions will continue to operate outside these clearway times. The changes to the clearway will be operational from Monday 12 December 2016. Any vehicles parked in the clearway on or after this date would risk being fined and towed. What is a clearway? You must not stop or park on a length of road where a clearway sign is present. The drivers of public buses and taxis are permitted to stop when dropping off or picking up passengers. If your vehicle is left on a clearway it will be towed away, usually to a nearby street and fines apply. To report a vehicle parked in a clearway or if your vehicle has been towed from a clearway, please call Transport Management Centre on 131 700. What happens next? We will be introducing new clearways on the Cumberland Highway from Old Windsor Road, Constitution Hill to the Hume Highway, Liverpool. The installation of new signs and posts will be from Wednesday 23 November to Sunday 11 December 2016, weather permitting. Our working hours will be from 9pm to 5am. How will the work affect you? There will be some noise associated with this work. We will make every effort to minimise its impact by carrying out the noisiest work before 11pm. Traffic changes There will be some temporary traffic changes to ensure the work zone is safe. Lane closures will be in place and may affect travel times. Please keep to speed limits and follow the direction of traffic controllers and signs. Roads and Maritime Services is installing new and extended clearways on James Ruse Drive, Briens Road and Old Windsor Road, from Parramatta Road, Clyde to Hart Drive, Constitution Hill. This change will help improve traffic flow on the Parramatta Outer Ring Road, which is part of the Greater Parramatta Infrastructure Implementation Plan. The completed project taKes tertiary treated effluent from the existing sewage treatment plants at Quakers Hill, St Marys and Penrith and treats it further in an Advanced Water Treatment Plant; the plant produces highly treated recycled water, discharged to the HawKesbury- Nepean River to replace flows of drinKing water from Warragamba Dam. The St Marys plant produces up to 18 billion litres of recycled water a year. To complete the upgrade, a total of 55 Kilometres of pipeline was installed and divided into five different operating lines. CONSTRUCTION WorKing closely with McConnell Dowell and Sydney Water, UEA successfully constructed the majority of trenchless crossings on the Replacement Flows Project using HDD.
