Have Your Say – Installation of a Permanent Electronic Message Sign on the Cumberland Highway, Wentworthville April 2016 Have your say – Installation of a permanent electronic message sign on the Cumberland Highway, Wentworthville The NSW Government is funding this proposal as part of its $246 million Pinch Point Program, which aims to reduce traffic delays, manage congestion and improve travel times on Sydney’s major roads, particularly during weekday peak periods. Roads and Maritime Services is seeking your feedback by Tuesday 26 April on the proposed location of a permanent electronic message sign on the Cumberland Highway about 440 metres north of Darcy Road. The sign will provide eastbound road users with advance notice of planned and unplanned incidents on Old Windsor Road between Northmead and Glenwood, and the James Ruse Drive, Pennant Hills Road, Victoria Road and M2 Motorway corridors. We have included a map below of the sign’s proposed location and an artist’s impression. The installation work would include: • Excavating and putting in foundations • Installing the electronic sign • Trenching and installing power and telecommunications cabling • Testing the sign. We will also need to carry out early field investigation work to help us develop a final design for the proposal. This will include investigating ground conditions and locating underground utilities at the proposed site. This work will take three nights to complete between Monday 18 April and Wednesday 27 April, excluding Saturday and Anzac Day, weather permitting. Our working hours will be from 8pm to 5am. How will the work affect you? There will be some noise associated with this work but we will make every effort to minimise its impact, including finishing the noisier work by 11pm. Traffic changes There will be some temporary traffic changes to ensure the work zone is safe. Lane closures will be in place and may affect travel times. Please keep to speed limits and follow the direction of traffic controllers and signs. For the latest traffic updates, you can call 132 701, visit livetraffic.com or download the Live Traffic NSW App. How can you give feedback? We encourage you to send us your feedback on the proposed location of the permanent electronic message sign by Tuesday 26 April to: DownerMouchel Cumberland Highway permanent electronic message sign, Wentworthville PO Box 6465 North Ryde NSW 2113 or email [email protected] Contact If you have any questions, please call our delivery partner DownerMouchel on 1800 332 660 or email [email protected]. In its current form, the M2 Upgrade project provides an opportunity to better utilise an existing asset, by adding to it to increase its capacity. A range of alternatives to the M2 Upgrade project were identified and considered as part of the development of the project, including the following: x Alternative one – Do nothing. x Alternative two – Other road based improvement options, including: Line marking to add additional lanes within the existing carriageway. Upgrade of the local sub-arterial and arterial road network. x Alternative three – Provision of public transport – increase provision for public transport within the M2 Motorway catchment.

  • New Clearways on the Cumberland Highway – Constitution Hill to Liverpool, from Monday 12 December
November 2016 New clearways on the Cumberland Highway – Constitution Hill to Liverpool, from Monday 12 December The NSW Government is acting to reduce congestion and delays by introducing new clearways on Sydney’s roads. Roads and Maritime Services is installing new clearways on the Cumberland Highway between Old Windsor Road, Constitution Hill and the Hume Highway, Liverpool. We have included a map to help explain where the new clearways will be implemented. Supplementing the existing No Stopping/No Parking restrictions with clearways will help to improve traffic flow and reduce delays by allowing us to tow vehicles that stop illegally or breakdown. This will ensure all lanes are available to traffic when the road is near capacity. The new clearway hours will operate in both directions from: 6am to 7pm on weekdays 8am to 8pm on weekends. The existing No Stopping and No Parking restrictions will continue to operate outside these clearway times. The changes to the clearway will be operational from Monday 12 December 2016. Any vehicles parked in the clearway on or after this date would risk being fined and towed. What is a clearway? You must not stop or park on a length of road where a clearway sign is present. The drivers of public buses and taxis are permitted to stop when dropping off or picking up passengers. If your vehicle is left on a clearway it will be towed away, usually to a nearby street and fines apply. To report a vehicle parked in a clearway or if your vehicle has been towed from a clearway, please call Transport Management Centre on 131 700.

  • Schedule of Classified Roads and State and Regional Roads
Schedule of Classified Roads and Unclassified Regional Roads Changes to this document are captured in ‘Recently Gazetted Changes’: http://www.rms.nsw.gov.au/business-industry/partners-suppliers/lgr/arrangements-councils/road-classification.html Summary Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) is required under the Roads Act 1993 s163 (4) to keep a record of all classified roads. To satisfy this commitment, this document contains a record of the roads classified under sections 46, 47, 50 or 51 of the Roads Act 1993 that have a Legal Class of Highway, Main Road, Secondary Road or Tourist Road - as legally described by Declaration Order in the Government Gazette. To manage the extensive network of roads for which council is responsible under the Roads Act 1993, RMS in partnership with local government established an administrative framework of State, Regional, and Local Road categories. State Roads are managed and financed by RMS and Regional and Local Roads are managed and financed by councils. Regional Roads perform an intermediate function between the main arterial network of State Roads and council controlled Local Roads. Due to their network significance RMS provides financial assistance to councils for the management of their Regional Roads. The Regional Road category comprises two sub- categories: those Regional Roads that are classified pursuant to the Roads Act 1993, and those Regional Roads that are unclassified. For completeness, the Schedule includes unclassified Regional Roads. Local Roads are unclassified roads and therefore are not included in the Schedule. The recently introduced alpha-numeric route numbering (MAB) system used for wayfinding purposes in NSW does not directly relate to the legal classification of roads and has not been incorporated into this Schedule.
