SHOWTIME® ANNOUNCES THE PREMIERE OF SHUT UP AND DRIBBLE A NEW DOCUMENTARY SERIES FROM EXECUTIVE PRODUCERS LEBRON JAMES, MAVERICK CARTER AND GOTHAM CHOPRA Three-Part Series Chronicling The Cultural And Political Evolution Of African-American Athletes In The NBA To Premiere In October LOS ANGELES – SHOWTIME has announced the upcoming premiere of SHUT UP AND DRIBBLE, a new three-part documentary series that will examine the cultural and political evolution of the NBA through the experiences of the African-American player. Executive produced by LeBron James and Maverick Carter of SpringHill Entertainment, and Gotham Chopra of Religion of Sports, the series will premiere in October on SHOWTIME. Directed by Gotham Chopra (Religion of Sports, Tom vs. Time, Kobe Bryant’s Muse), SHUT UP AND DRIBBLE takes its title from conservative pundit Laura Ingraham’s remarks in February regarding players from the Golden State Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliers, who stated they would decline an invite to the White House after the 2018 NBA Finals. The controversy serves as a prologue to the series as it chronicles the modern history of the NBA and its players, starting with the 1976 merger of the freewheeling ABA and the more conventional NBA. The league soon became the intersection of sport, commerce and fashion, with many of its players transcending the game to become cultural icons. SHUT UP AND DRIBBLE charts this evolution through the experience of the African-American athletes, who by taking control of their own destinies have helped to bring about social change and make their own statements in the current political climate. The new documentary series is a presentation of SHOWTIME Sports Documentary Films. The series is produced by Religion of Sports, directed by Gotham Chopra and executive produced by LeBron James, Maverick Carter, Rich Paul, Gotham Chopra, Martin Desmond Roe, Chris Uettwiller and Datari Turner. SpringHill Entertainment is the entertainment and content company created by LeBron James and his business partner Maverick Carter. Named after the public housing complex where James grew up in Akron, Ohio, SpringHill Entertainment develops creative content across a variety of platforms including digital, documentary and feature films, and scripted and unscripted TV. SpringHill Entertainment has offices in Los Angeles and Akron. Religion of Sports is a sports media platform founded by Gotham Chopra, Michael Strahan, Tom Brady and Dirty Robber. Created to explore sports’ spiritual dimension and why sports matter, content includes its flagship Religion of Sports series, the docu-series Tom vs Time with Tom Brady for Facebook Watch, and the upcoming docu-series SHUT UP AND DRIBBLE in partnership with LeBron James for Showtime. # # # .
