He marched in the Miller’s Blackhawk Winter Guard, along with the Suncoast Sound and Crossmen Drum and Bugle Corps. After marching, Scott went on to work with many high school and independent winter guards. Some of these groups include: Lassiter High School, Pope High School, John Overton High School, and JSU Center Stage. Scott was the color guard Caption Head for Spirit of Atlanta Drum and Bugle Corps and is currently the color guard director for the Western Carolina, Pride of the Mountains Marching Band. He started judging for WGI in 2010 as an equipment judge and is very excited to be part of the judging community. Scott resides in Pennsylvania where he teaches elementary school. Dr. Kenneth G. Bodiford For the past twenty years Dr. Kenneth G. Bodiford has been the Director of Bands at Jacksonville State University, Jacksonville, Alabama. He earned his BS in Music Education at Jacksonville State University, his MM in Music Education and Wind Ensemble Conducting at East Carolina University, and his DMA in Instrumental Conducting from The University of Alabama. In addition to directing The Marching Southerners, he teaches all of the instrumental conducting classes at JSU, and is the conductor of the JSU Chamber Winds. Since Dr. Bodiford’s appointment to the JSU director’s position, the band program has consistently grown in numbers and quality each year. Under his leadership, The Marching Southerners have grown from approximately 144 members to a number of members in excess of 400. They have been included in the Congressional Record of The 111th Congress U.S. House of Representatives for their production, “Of Thee I Sing”. In addition, The JSU Marching Southerners were chosen to lead the 2012 London New Year’s Day Parade. In addition, Dr. Bodiford served as the Executive Director of the Spirit of Atlanta Drum and Bugle Corps from 2001 until 2007. Under his leadership, the corps consistently ranked among the elite top twelve corps in the nation at the DCI World Championships. Dr. Bodiford was also appointed to the staff of the U.S. Army All-American Marching Band that performs at the U.S Army All-American Bowl. Julie Davila Julie Davila is a member of the chamber percussion ensemble the CAIXA TRIO winner of a 2011 “Drummie” award from Drum Magazine. She is currently the arranger and instructor for the Middle Tennessee State University Band of Blue Drumline. Prior to her work at MTSU, she was the percussion specialist at several high schools in Nashville, Tennessee. Many of her groups have medaled in all divisions of the WGI activity and in 1996 the John Overton High School Indoor drum line, under her direction won a National Championship. Julie is a member of the WGI nationally recognized adjudication team and serves on the steering committee for WGI Percussion. As an active clinician specializing in contemporary and marching percussion, she has performed in Seoul, South Korea, Paris, France, Puerto Rico, Mexico, and Brazil as well as performing extensively throughout the United States. She has published numerous marching and concert percussion features through Row-Loff Productions and Drop6 Media and is the author of "Modern Multi-Tenor Techniques and Solos” and “Impressions on Wood” published by Row-Loff. Julie is an endorser and clinician for the Pearl Corporation, Innovative Percussion, the Avedis Zildjian Company, Grover Pro Percussion and Evans Drum Heads. Jeff Fackler Jeff Fackler is the president and founder of Creative Solutions, Inc. Since 1994, Jeff has consulted and designed for more than 300 bands and drum corps ranging in size from 8 to 300 students. His design of over 500 shows has been represented throughout the country at all levels of state and regional competition, including the BOA Grand Nationals, Drum Corps International, Drum Corps Japan, Drum Corps Europe, and World Association of Marching Band championships. Jeff is an active visual clinician and adjudicator throughout the United States. He resides in Meridian, Idaho with his wife Bethany and children, Claire and Samuel. T. André Feagin T. Andre´ Feagin is Assistant Professor of Music, Associate Director of Bands and Director of Athletic Bands at the University of Texas at El Paso. His duties include the artistic and musical guidance of the Symphony Band, director of the Marching Miner Regiment and Miner Basketball Pep Band. Professor Feagin holds a Master of Music degree in instrumental wind conducting from the University of Memphis and a Bachelor of Music degree in performance. He has done additional doctoral study in conducting at the University of North Texas where he was a conducting student of Eugene Migliaro Corporon. Professor Feagin is an active program coordinator, adjudicator, clinician, and music arranger for some of the nations finest high school bands, drum corps, and university band programs. Active in Drum Corps International for nearly two decades, he has worked at Carolina Crown (Fort Mill, SC), Memphis Sound (Memphis, TN), Santa Clara Vanguard (Santa Clara, CA), and The Academy Drum and Bugle Corps. Professor Feagin served these organizations in many capacities, including brass staff/program coordinator, brass caption head and executive director. In addition to winning the DCI Division III World Championship title in 2007, Drum Corps International named him Division III Director of the year. He is a former four-year conductor of the Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps and the 2000 recipient of the Drum Corps International Jim Jones Leadership Award. Jo Ann Hood Jo Ann Hood began her teaching career in 1972 serving as Band Director at Giles County High School, Wright Jr. High School, Bellevue Jr. and Sr. High Schools, and Hillwood High School. She retired in 2011 after 30 years as Director of the John Overton High School Band in Nashville, TN. She is currently adjunct faculty at Tennessee State University and Middle Tennessee State University supervising music student teachers. Miss Hood is Past President of TMEA, TBA, MTSBOA, and Phi Beta Mu. She has served as State Chair, High School Representative, and Southern Division Chair for the National Band Association. She has served as All State General Chair, All State Band Chair, and currently is Exhibits Chairperson for TMEA. She currently serves on The Jury for the John Philip Sousa Foundation Sudler Shield and was on the staff for the 2010 and 2011 US Army All American Marching Band. She is a six time recipient of the National Band Association’s Certificate of Merit for Marching Excellence and a four time recipient of the National Band Association’s Citation of Excellence. She has been selected as an Outstanding Young Woman of America, Who’s Who Among American Teachers, and Who’s Who of American Women. She was awarded the Scroll of Excellence for Outstanding Contributions to Bands and Band Music by the Women Band Directors National Association and is a two time recipient of the John Philip Sousa Sudler Shield. Miss Hood has been inducted into the MTSU Band of Blue Club Hall of Fame, the National High School Band Directors Hall of Fame, the Tennessee Music Education Association Hall of Fame, and will be inducted into the Tennessee Bandmasters Association Hall of Fame in 2014. She holds membership in NAFME, TMEA, MTSBOA, NEA, TEA, MNEA, NBA, TBA, ASBDA, Delta Omicron, Kappa Delta Pi, and Phi Beta Mu. She serves extensively as an adjudicator and clinician for marching and concert bands. J. Ashley Jarrell J. Ashley Jarrell currently serves as Visiting Assistant Director of Bands at the University of Illinois where his teaching and conducting responsibilities include the University Symphonic Band, the Hindsley Symphonic Band, undergraduate conducting, and assisting with all facets of the athletic band program including the 360-member Marching Illini. Prior to his appointment, he served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant and the inaugural candidate for the Doctor of Musical Arts Degree in Wind Conducting at the University of Illinois, where he was a recipient of the Begian Conducting Assistantship. Mr. Jarrell received the Master of Arts degree in Wind Conducting from Middle Tennessee State University and the Bachelor of Music degree from East Tennessee State University. Before coming to the University of Illinois, Mr. Jarrell served as Director of Bands at Martin Luther King Jr. Academic Magnet School in Nashville, Tennessee. Consistently named by U.S. News and World Report and Newsweek magazines as one of the fifty best high schools in the nation, Martin Luther King Jr. Academic Magnet School Bands received numerous superior ratings, accolades and gave three performances for the Tennessee Music Education Association Conference in the span of six years during Mr. Jarrell’s tenure. Previously, Mr. Jarrell also served as Associate Director of Bands at Middle Tennessee State University and Associate Director of Bands at Harpeth High School. Mr. Jarrell is active as a clinician and adjudicator throughout the United States. He is the co-founder of Positive Performance Concepts, a comprehensive marching band leadership clinic. He is also an active member of many professional organizations including National Association for Music Education, National Band Association, Tennessee Music Education Association, Middle Tennessee School Band and Orchestra Association, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, and elected membership with American School Band Directors Association, Phi Beta Mu, and Pi Kappa Lambda National Music Honor Society.
