................................................ 138 TALES 5 6 Slovakia Tales THREE TWIGS OF KING SVÄTOPLUK English version Three twigs of king Svätopluk Great Moravia was the state, which existed between the year 833 and the beginning of the 10. century. Its central territory corresponds to today's Moravia and Slovakia, together with the neighbouring northern and middle Hungary. The Great Moravian Empire was formed by the affiliation of the Moravian (Mojmir‘s) and Nitra (Pribina‘ s) princedom. At the time of the reign of monarch Svätopluk, the Empire was boom because the expansion. Svätopluk was the most significant monarch of the Great Moravia. Great Moravian King Svätopluk had three sons who quarrelled who will succeed to the throne after their father´ s death. According to traditions, the oldest son was the heir of the throne, however all Svätopluk´s sons wanted to rule the country. When King Svätopluk was dying, he commanded to bring his three sons Mojmír, Svätopluk and Predslav to his chamber. He got out of bed, took three twigs tied together and he gave them firstly to Mojmír, then Svätopluk and finally to Predslav. He wanted them to break the twigs on their knees, but neither of them could do it. Then he divided those twigs and gave one to each of them. The sons broke it without much effort. The king told them: “My sons, if you are united and help each other, you will be strong and no enemy will defeat you, just as you could not break these three twigs. However, if you quarrel, you will be weak and the kingdom will be taken by your enemies.“ Unfortunately, the sons did not listen to their father’s advice and they continued to fight against each other until their kingdom fell apart and ceased to exist. Surrounded by a level or slightly undulated plateau, it is a hopelessly infinite panorama of flatness on which are etched shining paths of streams framed by bushes and trees until finally the sight merges with a far away haze suggestive of the ramparts of mountain ranges. The most unforgettable moment on the prairie is the sunset. The rich variety of colors, thoughts and feelings creates memories of daybreak and nightfall on the prairie which will live forever in the mind.

However it’s become obvious that more capacity is needed anyway, so ACE were asked to provide a second bin, and this is now in place at the Bring Site. This is a great facility and once again Presteigne is taking a lead in expanding its recycling. It’s brilliant that so many people are using it - please spread the word to friends and neighbours.
